Call your physician back and request a prescription for Diflucan instead. Diflucan is an oral antifungal that will treat the yeast without having to be inserted into the vagina. If you explain your discomfort, I can't imagine they would refuse.

There isn't much else you can do, unless the doctor wants to prescribe you Diflucan, which is a pill. If you are breastfeeding, you don't want to take the pill, it may cross over into your breastmilk.
I don't know how old your baby is, but you may be really sore down there because of the yeast infection. I suggest getting the monistat cream and using it, it will soothe your sore vaginal canal, and most likely the pain will go away a bit, since there isn't an overgrowth of candida down there.
Go to the drug store now and get some monistat!!!!

Before trying Monistat, try eating yogurt of the sort that has live cultures. The cultures are a competing organism, and will hopefully be able to overcome the yeast. If that doesn't work, then Monistat is the next best choice, especially if you are breast-feeding.

Drink plenty of 100% Cranberry Juice watered down 50%.. If you are nursing drink 8-10 glasses a day or more if you can and get plenty of water... That will help flush out the infection..Also, eat yogurt. Good Luck and congrats on the baby !!
