I had a similar dream during the Vietnam War. What bothered me was that I was in the Army at the time. The dream involved a tactical situation that I had received training for.
I had always thought my dream was a reflection of my own conscious of my mortality.

I think it might mean that you worry about his safety a lot and you don't know what you would do if something bad happened to him.
