The Bible has been modified numerous times over the centuries.

The Catholic church periodically changes stances on specific issues.

Yet, Christians will tell you that God never changes. If the people whom he supposedly created in his image (i.e., society), then shouldn't God evolve with them?

If there really is a God, it seems to me that he could learn a thing or two from humanity, collectively.

He SHOULD evolve right out of existence -- at least to people who believe he exists in the first place...which I don't.

You have an excellent point. But it isn't just Christians who "tell you" that God never changes. In fact, I'd say Christians have allowed for more "change" over the centuries than Jews or Muslims, Buddhists, etc. The so-called "Word of God" that people are so quick to quote has changed immeasurably from one translation to another, often based on the political agendas of the rulers arranging for the translation. Even if "God" gave "The Word" to somebody way back when, that person would scarcely recognize the versions people are reading and holding up as LAW today.

Absolutely not. The Word of God states "Jesus Christ, the same, yesterday, today, and forever." It also states that our Eternal God never changes. We are the ones who change, and develop, to strive, and become more like Him. We call this the pursuit of holiness.
P.S. Regardless of what the Catholic Church teaches, or what you may have read somewhere - the bible hasn't changed AT ALL in almost 2000 years. There are several different translations of the Bible, but the Word of God itself has never, and shall never change.

"I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier. Life should malleable and progressive; working from idea to idea permits that. Beliefs anchor you to certain points and limit growth; new ideas can't generate. Life becomes stagnant."

I think the biggest "Whoopsie!" the Catholic Church ever had was their stance on the earth being the center of the universe. They stood so strong until 1993, when they finally admitted they were wrong. Great moment in history.

Hmm good question :)
Why would a religion want to change things in their bible that was supposedly made way back in the day? You cant change stuff that supposedly happened in history!
Makes no sense. Its the same thing with Christians. How can Christians believe that there is God and no angels or saints? How can there be just one God with no angels or saints?
All religion is whacked out.
I made my own religion and its called "What I think" I believe in what I want to and dont listen to anyone else.

UGH!

God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He knew that society would "evolve" long before it did. He is omnipotent...we, however, are not. As time passed, we learned a little more and now all of sudden people think they know more than God. There is a God and he sees and knows everything...there is nothing that he needs to learn about us...we need to learn more and more about Him!!!

I think humanity could learn a thing or two from God.

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes. Psalms 118:9

I, myself, will trust God and not the wisdom of the world.

the bible present nowadays has been modified because when it was firstly written down it was written by humans!not as god says !
and people who wrote the bible and who received the message of it at that time ..differ than people nowadays in their needs or in their way of thinking to accept the bible as before...
but nothing has changed with god the message he sent with Adam ,Noah, moses,Jesus, and Mohamed is the same..
there is only one god who has no sons and nothing like him...there is no savior..what saves man is his good deeds and true belief in god..
and behold
i hope that you read the "quran" thoroughly and thoughtfully ,at that time you will notice that there is abook who had never been modified 1400 years ago and it need not to be so!
because it is suitable for all society needs..everywhere..everytime.
who reads knows!
and we are all "still learning".

What does God have to prove to any body. You change your mind like you change your under ware. So who is unstable in their thinking. When i was child I thought as a child but when i got grown I put away childish things. Our thoughts are not like God thoughts and our ways are not like his. When change everyday because we get older and our mind is always learning something new. When we get old and gray we won't be the same as when we was 15 years old. You catch up to God he is already in the end, you need years to change not him. You are not on God standards when you die you still won't have all the Knowledge.

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever". Hebrews 13:8
Don't you see that when it comes to morality man has not changed. Without God and the commandments we seem to be much like the animals, breeding indiscriminately, stealing, coveting, and killing. It is we who need to change and it can only be done with His help. I for one am glad that the examples of the people used in scripture were so imperfect. Had they been perfect then most of us would give up without trying. King David was an adulterer and murderer yet God loved him because his repentance was genuine. Abraham was a liar, Moses was afraid to give speeches. God is the anchor for us to improve our immoral lives and be saved. Can you imagine life without a moral code? Reminds me of a child without parental supervision to give them limits. No one to tell them not too much ice cream, don't walk in the traffic, etc. We are His children. Mmm

No, not at all. As others have answered, God doesn't change. Some people want Him to change to accommodate their preferences/beliefs/wishes/etc. But God is the only one true constant in life...and thereafter.
