Not real sure how good it works but when cat and carp fishing we make up chum balls with flour, corn meal, menhaden oil and puree chicken liver into the balls made for cats.(and my secret mix, lol)
When we do go out for serious catfishing we plan it out and take many baits and chums with us!I make up 3 different types of chum to take with us for different conditions. And we always take no less than 4 types of bait or more.

I have seen all sorts of things used for catfish. They find their food mostly thru smell/taste. I have had the most luck with chicken livers. However, they are messy and kind of a pain to put and keep on the hook.
Cornbread dough could have blood or something else mixed in it. That would allow the smell to be in the water but the dough would keep the smell attached to the hook. The fish would home in on it and find the source of the food and eat it. Get the fryer ready.
Like I have said, I have seen lots of different things used. Catfish are not too picky but they can be finicky depending on their mood. They might go after stink bait one day but ignore it the next. There are probably all sorts of factors that can affect this such as temperature, weather, wind, and whatnot. The only thing I have seen them go after consistently is the chicken livers. May get some of those and puree them and mix them in with the dough. Don't make the dough too loose. Make it to a play-do consistency. That way you can form it around the treble hook and it won't shake loose easily.
