There were some in the early church that thought this very thing. Paul then told them all about it.
"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?" (Romans 6:1-3)

For those who accept Jesus as saviour, yes all sins for all time are forgiven. We are not mindless robots as christians, we still have to make a choice to do the right thing and this takes time to re-learn the patterns and things we used to do. That's why God sent the Holy Spirit to live in us and to guide us and give us strength. We are no longer slaves to sin but can choose to do good. Once you have met Jesus and have the Spirit of God, it actually isn't easy to do some of the wrong things we did before. Some of the things I did when I didn't know Jesus I couldn't do them the day after I met him, they just 'felt' wrong. That's the Holy Spirit!
Christianity is a faith by grace, it's about what Jesus has already done for us, not what we can do for him.

When you are a born again Christan you are a new man and old things pass away meaning he forgives your past. Now if you truly love the Lord you will stop sinning because he requires it in his commandments just start off by following the 10 commandments then he will start revealing himself to you. This lets him know your trying and you want to believe.

I was told by JW's that before Jesus died to forgive our sins, no one could enter heaven, but after Jesus died, you could. So technically, a sin is still a sin and you will be judged on the day of judgement whether you make the grade or not.

Of course it doesn't mean you can sin! Read Paul's letter to the Romans, particulary chapters 5 to 8 and you'll see.

Don't use Jesus. And don't use forgiveness as an excuse to sin!

...not mortally. To sin and to think that it will just be forgiven without repentance is not absolution but the sin of presumption.

If you are relying on the bible as a guide to life then you are going to be very confused as it is full of contradictions and vague meanings. Best not worry about it and just get on with your life and do your best not to harm anybody because that is a sin in anybody's book and one that all branches of the Christian church have committed many times

Sin is an offense against God: "Against you, you alone, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight." Sin sets itself against God's love for us and turns our hearts away from it. Like the first sin, it is disobedience, a revolt against God through the will to become "like gods," knowing and determining good and evil. Sin is thus "love of oneself even to contempt of God." In this proud self- exaltation, sin is diametrically opposed to the obedience of Jesus, which achieves our salvation.
