All of my friends say that I should ask my crush out (which I am FINALLY going to do at the end of the week), but there are quite a few women on Yahoo Answers that believe that I should not ask him out. Why is that? If the vibes are there, shouldn't you go for it? I'm not afraid of rejection, so what's the big deal?

You should ask him out. Maybe they were trying to be mean, but you should ask him. There is now reason for you not to. You will never know what he might say. More than likely, he will go out with you. You sound very sweet, so I think that any boy would be happy to be with you.

Some women are traditional and feel the men should do all the asking. While that traditional attitude is ok, it's not really 21st century. These days, women take the first step when it comes to dating and being noticed. On the other hand, it can make a girl look easy so you want to be careful with the kind of 'vibe' you put out.

The happy medium would be for you to ask someone that you know knows him to introduce you to him. That way, you still get to meet him and say what you want to him AND you didn't jump up in his face and appear easy.

Good luck!

Because back then it was the norm for men to ask out the ladies and pay for the dates. Well times are changing. Those women are probably scared of rejection, so they would just naturally let the guy come to them. But if you have the guts then do it! Most guys like a girl with confidence, thats a good way to show it.

Some women are still old fashioned and passive and think the guys should do all the asking and all the paying etc.

My view is if you sit around and wait to be asked, you may be sitting around a while...while you're not asking him out, someone else may or he may find his attention caught by someone else.

Go for it...guys have been having to subject themselves to rejection for a very long time because it was inappropriate for a woman to ask a man out...it's about time there was more equality to that situation (as well as many others). ☺

Perhaps too, if some women experience rejection as guys do, when asking someone out, it'll help them become more sensitive to the feelings of those they reject in the future.

Well, I can see it from both sides. My Mum is really old fashioned and she believes that the men should ask the women. She thinks that it's too forward for a girl to ask a guy on a date.
BUT, I do have a lot of male friends who think it's fine and quite acceptable for females to do the asking. As a matter of fact, some guys think it's quite a turn-on.
IDK the right or wrong answer. I think certain social settings call for certain etiquette. Follow your heart (and good luck!)

In this day and age, it is normal for women to ask men out.

(As a matter of matter, I sense that nowadays many men even expect women to make the first move, and wait for the for the moment they will approach them...)

So, don't be shy.

Ask him out.

(If you are not afraid of rejection, that's great... But if you were, facing a rejection would probably just strengthen your ego...)

Best of luck!

some women are just old fashion. they believe that the man should ask the girl out, pay for the date and propose to the girl. however they are the same ones that complain that it takes they guy forever to make the first move.

yeah its kinda old fashioned but its more like the essence of being a girl? i mean boys should ALWAYS make the first move because its more uuhhmm necessary? why? because boys will be boys. <<<(common sense) if you get rejected, even if you dont care about it, your friends would laugh at you secretly. believe me thats true. =)
