can anyone give me some recent statistics about gender differences in teenage fatal car crashes?

Yes there is a difference, but the gap between male and female has diminished.
When more male teens drove then female teens, male teens had more accidents, and even when girls started getting there licenses sooner, males still had more accidents.
The reason was that boys were taking chances girls never took. Boys are also more likely to speed, though my own daughter disproved that fact many times.

But now the gap has closed up as girls become just as careless as boys.

Teens represent the smallest number of drivers on the road and yet represent the largest number of accidents, and they also cause the greatest number of accidents. They are also disproportionaly represented in the hospitals and morgues.

The group, 45-60 represent the largest number of drivers, but are responsible for the smallest number of the accidents!
This means either older people are better drivers, or that the bad drivers were all killed before they reached 45..

More teens are being arrested for drunk driving now then before the drinking age was raised to 21 in New York. Binge drinking at college is cited as one cause.
While the number of 23-29 yr olds arrested for DWI has fallen. Which means either the kids get smart when they reach 23, or only the smart ones are still alive.

Look at Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears etc, girls are just as likely to be arrested today for DWI as boys.
The next thing we'll be seeing is more girls involved in dare devil motorcycle driving and auto drifting.
The number of boys killing or crippling themselves by doing dangerous stunts is weening out the dummies by the dozens!
