Yes, but it takes a long time if that is the only focus you have. You need to do a variety of ab workouts. Crunches are a good start. If you have weights, pick the right size for you and hold one in each hand. Keep your arms almost straight and hands about a foot and a half apart. Using only your central body muscles, rotate from side to side, setting the weights down on your right side and then onto your left. Do not use your arms to move the weights from side to side. This doesn't work the abs completely. It works the obliques, which accentuate the abs and make them look bigger and more defined. It does work the abs to some extent, and works very well as an alternative to more crunches as a final set. You should also work your back muscles that compliment the abs. This will give you an all around better figure and smoother look in the central part of your body.

Yes, situps and crunches help build abs. It is also a good idea to walk/jog/run for 30-60 minutes, 4-5 times a week. This is great exercise for your whole body.

Yes, but you need to do various kinds to work the different muscle groups, such as the obliques, lower, upper etc...Plus, you'll need to do cardio and eat right to get rid of the layer of fat OVER the abs, otherwise, whats the point of your hard work, if the results are hidden?

Yeah, I would think that they build abs as long as you keep on doing the same workout..They'll come to you soon..Best of luck.

not as much as you may think. Cardio, running and healthy eating will help burn the fat. Crunches will firm up the muscles

Yes, they create definition in the abdominal muscles.
If you want to see them, however, you have to get rid of the blanket of fat that covers them. That can only be achieved with diet and exercise. (There's no such thing as "spot reduction," so doing exercises that focus on your stomach won't make your stomach any leaner).
