My boss paid for me to go to a award dinner for our company and i won a digital camera in the door prize and have been using it for work because ours is out of date, but i was wondering if ultimately the camera is mine. i'm thinking about leaving the company and wanted to know if i had the right to take it with me. thanks for all the feedback! looks unamious!

He only paid it for me ,and the ticket number is awarded to me by ticket office ,so the prize is mine .
If my boss handed the ticket to me as a gift , then i think the prize is his .

if you leave the camera to compamy ,it sonds like you have just token your boss' place to attend the dinner ,you were not representative of your company and all consequences during the award dinner should be token by your boss .
As a representative using your own wisdom ,you attend social activities for your company ,then you should be responsable for all consequences which were outside the topic of award dinner ,whatever good or bad .

Even though he/she bought the tickets...if they were GIVEN to you...then a gift is for you to use as you see fit..and any re-numeration (or gifts) that come from that would be yours...
however, if it is reasonable, I would offer to share with him/her..And, most polite people would say "oh, no! I gave YOU the tickets...whatever prize is yours"...and most likely this is what your boss would say...however, the fact that you offer to share it, shows great character on your part, and would show most favorably in your bosses eyes...!

Is your job resting on the prize? If so, how well do you like the job and company? If not then its yours no questions asked.

YOURS...if your boss bought the ticket for YOU then the prize belongs to YOU

It's definitely yours. What did you win? If you won a dinner or baseball tickets or something you can ask your boss if he/she wants to go since she/he bought your ticket.
