lense? you dont need a lense i dont think. just cut the hole in yuor box, then place aluminum on top, tape it to the top, then prick the hole in the middle, we did it in my foto class, worked perfectly.

It is the most primative form of camera. The camera obscura originated to disprove the Greek theory that light came out of your eyes which allowed one to see. Later on the camera obscura was used as an painter's tool to aid the artist to get the perspectives right, and also as a victorian tourist attraction. In modern day a pinhole camera is used more for experimental photography. Often they are hom made, or at the very least home assembled, and represent the very basic of lo-fi photography. Perhaps the pinhole image is now more a piece of art than it was in the past, being able to be an entity in it's own right.

The whole point of a pinhole camera is that it doesn't have a lens. The pinhole IS the lens. The smaller the hole, the sharper (but dimmer) the image. A baked bean tin with the lid completely removed and replaced by a piece of greaseproof paper would make a suitable camera.

You do not need a lens for a pinhole camera. Just a small hole, size of a pin or match and a piece of tape. Take the tape off to expose put it back on to stop. Need a tripod.
Very long exposures. You cannot overexpose the film. Small camera amovements add to the artistic value.

you dont need a lense you just need a lightproof container with a pinhole in it. i used a quaker oats container. painted the inside black put a pin hole in the side then covered it with a square of cardboard and held it on with a rubber band. load the paper and take it outside or where ever and then remove the pinhole cover. the time will vary so youll have to experiment. the picture comes out distorted because of the cylidrical shape but its kind of cool.
i wonder if a shoebox would work too? you might need something to hold the photo paper down, but it would be easy to load good luck

you dont use a lens on a pin hole camera. All you do is make a pin hole on one side of the box and put a cover over it when film is in the box and move the cover to expose the picture you want. The bigger the hole the less time you remove the cover over the pin hole. It will take a lot of practice to learn to do it. But it can be fun.

i read an article once where a guy used his room as a camera. he blacked out his windows, put a tiny hole in the blinds then used a conventional camera set to B to record the image projected onto the back wall. it was new york and it took about 3 days exposure!

you could try that?

alternatively try a shoe box. make sure it's light tight and load your paper in your darkroom. then put a tiny tiny pin prick hole in the opposing wall to your paper then cover that with some tape so it's easy to remove later. set up your camera pointing at what you want to photograph, remove the tape and wait for a couple of hours.

good luck!
