Could be they're not done interviewing yet. At the company I used to work at it took them forever to fill vacated positions. They would do the interviews and then like three weeks later they would finally hire someone. You could give her a quick call. Even if it's been filled you can say thanks again for the interview and ask if they'll keep your resume on file for an future openings.

You should, after any interview, take a minute to write a quick thank-you note to your interviewer and mail it. It reminds them you exist and are still interested in the position.
Something like:
Dear Mr. So and So:
I just wanted to take a minute to let you know that I enjoyed meting with you today to talk about XYZ Corp's available receptionist position.
I feel that my skills would be an excellent fit with the position and XYZ Corp really made a great impression on me as a great place to work.
I look forward to hearing from you Wednesday and am available by phone at (123) 456-7890 or by mail at 123 Any Way, Somcecity, AK 12345, if you need any further information from me.
Thanking you again, I am
Yourname here.
After that when you do make the phone call tomorrow, don't say "I was just touching base with you to see how things were.." it adds pressure in a rather ungraceful way. Much much better to say "Hi, this is Soandso, I was just calling to see if you needed any further information from me? If you like I can supply references or reccomendations?"
Jobs are totally a mater of tact, and the more breeding and refinement you display, the more likely people will see you as the intelligent bright hard-working person they want to hire!

They likely had a list of applicants and they wanted to interview each of them before making up their minds. If you had a really good interview, that's wonderful. But there may have been someone after you who had slightly better qualifications. So they aren't going to jump at the first candidate who looks promising - they are going to play out their options. If you haven't heard, do as she suggested and give her a call on Wednesday.
And if you didn't get the job, ask if the company has any other openings as you would really like to work for them.

She said to call her if you didn't hear from her by Wednesday. This probably means she will be contacting all of the applicants on Wednesday. She is probably making her decision today, and if you call today it would be considered rude, and would not put you in a good light.
Just be patient, and if you have not heard from her by the middle of the afternoon on Wednesday, then I think you can safely call her.

She explicitly told you what you should do. Wait it out until Wednesday, and then call her. This might also be a test, of your aggressiveness, or your patience. So to be safe, do what you are told. They are probably waiting for a decision maker to have a final say about things before letting applicants know. Good luck!

Not neccesarily. People get really busy at the office, so I'd definitely follow up so that she knows that you are still interested. It's easy to weed out candidates based on who never gets back to you. I'd just leave a message and say "Hi, this is "___". I just wanted to follow up with you after the interview I had last wk. My # is.... Thank you"
