would like to know how the Muslims would react if they were in the same situation as the Christians in early 20th century communism. How would they approach it, would they be any differences.

Something worse than communism permeates the Muslim world. Dictatorship and fascism. Muslim countries will never experience true democracy as long as they let these tyrants rule with no real regard for true freedom.

I don't see much difference between cleric ruled muslim countries and communism.
They both brainwash their people and use propaganda and censorship to control them.
Muslims would call it something else but it's pretty much the same thing

They have been, remember Afghanistan? Also many of the smaller countries that were under the Soviet umbrella are mainly Muslim
