Offer to help cook meals for them and their families, run errands for them, take care of the kids every once in a while, if you're rich and have money just lying around offer to help pay some bills or give them some money to go shopping for themselves (alot of patients don't have insurance or good insurance), depending on how bad the cancer is, some patients will need medical equipment and modifications to their home (like rails, wheelchair ramps, easy to use appliances (grip and such). Most of all, just be a friend. Some people may be too proud to ask for help, but if you offer it they will probably take it.

Good luck to anyone that has Cancer. There is always hope.

You mean help me when I was sick?

Some people sent gifts - DVD's and books to help pass the time while I went through it. That was nice.

A good idea for helping is to help the spouse of the cancer patient. For instance, I wasn't feeling good enough to go to the movies or go out to dinner, so friends would sometimes take my wife out, give her a break. Than was very nice.

Offering "let me know if I can do anything" does help.

My best friend, the way he helped me was: he was the guy I could tell anything to. He was the guy I told the more disgusting details to. That was a help.
