No not a cult but a religion of sorts? Maybe...I notice many times every single atheist will answer a question with the same phrases and thoughts...pretty unified there...almost an official group with unofficial 'conventional wisdom' that everyone embraces.

Thought I would add something that an atheist posted up above me...what is a cult?----

4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.

This could easily be solved with a dictionary and a brain.

Cult:

1. a particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology. a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.
6. a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.
7. the members of such a religion or sect.
8. any system for treating human sickness that originated by a person usually claiming to have sole insight into the nature of disease, and that employs methods regarded as unorthodox or unscientific.
–adjective
9. of or pertaining to a cult.
10. of, for, or attracting a small group of devotees: a cult movie.

Also, atheists are religion less, unless they belong to a religion such as zen Buddhism [Which is atheistic]

An Atheist is simply a person who does not believe in the supernatural. It is not a cult, they do not have any connection one with the other. They're just ordinary people who have no religious superstitions at all.

Well if you have to sign me up to belonging to a religion, you'd have to settle for paganism and Taoism - and yet I am still an antheist because I do not believe in deities. What ya gonna do with that?

Propaganda. They need to pigeon hole us somewhere, So a cult is good because it conjures up thoughts of brain washing and such. We must be a cult to have no belief while they do! I mean, what is wrong with us. I really wish we had Roley eyes on this.

No, a cult has a leader, like Jesus, takes your money, limits your thinking, tells you how to live, denies your freedom to choose, tells you what to think, limits your contacts with outsiders and divergent ideas, like they do in christian churches.

Christianity, Islam, orthodox anything, Hinduism, are all cults.

Atheism is about being free of such nonsense.
