I've read many comments from anti-illegals on here and it seems to me that there is quite a bit of animostiy and hatred toward illegals as a group and not the illegal immigration situation. Shouldn't we be mad at our government for letting the situation get out of hand? Yet I read so many racist, stereotypical comments and this doesn't reflect well on americans. We have more compassion than that! Why can't we be adult and hate the situation and not the people?? I hate smoking, but I don't hate smokers...I understand that they have an addiction however bad it may be. I don't like the illegal immigration situation but I certainly don't hate the people.

FORZAAZURRI06(not sure if I spelled it right so i apologize from the start)- You say you live in NYC? Well the last time I went there I heard other languages more than I heard english!! There were russians and japanese and chinese and many more. When we go get our nails done or go eat chinese food do we ask the chinese or japanese to talk to us in english? No we don't. We let them jabber on in their language because it is their language. I definitely think illegals should have to learn english but i don't think we have the right to tell them when they have to speak it. If they are out with friends then they should be able to speak their language to their people. Obviously if they are talking to an american they should try to speak to them in english. Makes sense doesn't it??

Crazybird-So it's not ok for a company to use the word spanish in their name because it seems racist? Because it only applies to one group? Well should I then get mad at the United ***** College Fund for allowing black americans funds for college and not me, a white american??? or what about the NAACP? why don't they have an NAAWP? Minorities everywhere in this country have made associations and businesses for minorities but the hispanic aren't allowed to do so? That isn't fair. The only reason people care about it being hispanic is because of the huge illegal immigration debate...

If you felt you were being persecuted as a group wouldn't you fight back? I know i would. Did anyone stop to think that the reason the illegals are being rude and disrespectful is because we are being just as rude and disrespectful too? People tell them to go back home to their taco stands and take care of their ten kids, and they should show respect to people that say things like that? I think not!!!

Damian S- I agree wholeheartedly. Yes they committed a crime but all people deserve a second chance. We give our citizens that commit crimes more than one chance, and they do worse than just crossing a border!! We should send those that commit heinous crimes home, like the rapists and murderers....and give those who's only fault was crossing the border illegally(about as much of a crime as jaywalking) a chance to better themselves!

I agree the immigration problem needs to be fixed. The immigrants are not the problem. Many people have answered " The are criminals they broke the law". And it's true they did. But we all break the law. If you cross the street without using a crosswalk you are a criminal, if you speed on the street, highway, or freeway you are a criminal. These people come to this country illegaly, yes they broke the law. But so do we. They do it because they have no choice. Their government helps the rich but never helps the poor. There are many laws that we have in this country that they don't have in Mexico or in any other country. If your family member dies and leaves you a house. You have the house and the resposability of that house. In mexico your family can't leave you the house unless you pay all the fines that go with your Inheritance. You have to pay for you inheritance, it's just not given. This is just one of many laws that we have and they don't. It is wrong to break the law. Yes. But if they break the law to help their family, Should we not show them compassion? And it's not like they are really taking jobs from the American people. And they are not taking all the benefits that the U.S. has to offer. Do a little digging before you start talking about what you feel, but don't really know. And remember 10 illegal immigrants are not 10 million. And see who really is taking advantage of Welfare.

I don't hate illegal immigrants.

On a broader scale I don't support any racist groups. This means I don't support the KKK, The black panthers, some racist members of La Raza.

I am more annoyed with how the problems are not being handled such as hospitals shutting thier doors and how there are many flaws in the system due to passing laws that are easy to exploit.

With every group you are always going to find those that are racist and only care for themselves. It doesn't mean all are that way.

I can't blame all of our woes on just illegal immigrants.

The illegal immigration issue....compounded by a specific group who is trying to change our language and in general not attempting to assimilate.

We had an article in our paper today about a place for people to go for help. It was founded by hispanics to basicly just help hispanics. They changed the name to the Spanish center or something like that. Problem is .....the services are federally funded and they cannot just serve hispanics. So they had to change the name to a more neutral name so others would know they had access as well. The community was majority Spanish with a few blacks and fewer whites and the Spanish community was livid and caused a huge up-roar because they didn't want a neutral name...they wanted it to be Spanish, for the Spanish and liked that it left the funds just for them by having a name that made others feel it wasn't for them. Now they risk loosing federal funds if they don't make it accessable for other people. They don't care because they want it just for them. Now folks.....that's racism and it's using language as a barrier for other citizens to gain access to services paid for with our tax dollars. They said they are the majority so therefore shouldn't have to change it. Now when the "majority" just gives benefits to just their people and not others who need it.....that's racism.

We've had them oust principles when a school became majority hispanic and their kids wanted a hispanic principle.....not a black one. That's racism. Through and through.

They want our funding, they want our freebies, but they want it only for their people and that is wrong. And they are using their "majority" rules attitude to support their blatent racism and their language as a further means to discriminate against others.

So there is a dual problem with this situation that can't be ignored.

Before Reagan's presidency, an anticipated million or so persons a yr got here into the US from Mexico - and the identical quantity, roughly, left the US for Mexico on the finish of the rural harvest season. Very few stayed, in view that there were not jobs for them. Non-residents did not have entry to the non-agricultural US task marketplace, in enormous aspect in view that of the vigour of US hard work unions (earlier than Reagan 25% of the body of workers used to be unionized; in these days the individual body of workers is approximately 7% unionized), and in view that businesses have been unwilling to danger having non-tax-deductible hard work fees on their books through hiring undocumented employees with out legitimate Social Security numbers. But Reagan positioned an finish to that. His 1986 amnesty software, mixed along with his competitive struggle on equipped hard work (began in 1981), in final result instructed each employers and non-residents that there could be few consequences and plenty of rewards to growing the US hard work pool (and as a consequence using down wages) with undocumented immigrants. A million persons a yr persevered to encounter our southern border, however they stopped returning to Latin America each fall in view that as a substitute of seasonal paintings they have been competent to uncover everlasting jobs. The magnet drawing them? Illegal Employers. If Congress have been to cross a legislation that stated, particularly without problems, that the CEO of any industry that used to be stuck using unlawful immigrants went to prison for a yr - no exceptions - then inside a month there could be fifteen million (roughly) persons covered up on the Mexican border seeking to get out of the United States. The US unemployment fee could drop almost 0, and wages could start to upward thrust. The American core magnificence could start to go back to viability, as could the union motion on this country Start HARSHLY penalizing "Illegal Employers" and non-residents with no Social Security quantity will go away the nation on their possess. Easy, realistic, inexpensive, painless. No Reform No Amnesty No fence required. No mass deportations critical. No want for Homeland Security to get concerned. When jobs don't seem to be to be had, so much undocumented employees will without problems go away the nation

The illegals for the most part who come into this country act racist, rude, disrespectful and refuse to assimilate. They then demand rights and benefits that not even the citizens get. Do you expect the citizens to be anything but angry and hateful towards them? Ofcourse,I feel just as angry and hateful towards the people who allow it and trust me my government gets an ear full of that anger everyday but the illegals themselves are just as bad.

I don't hate them.
I think they are violating our laws.
I think they are lacking in character, honesty, courage and ethics.
If they truly believed what they claim, they would be doing their protesting against the corrupt government, the corrupt military, and the criminal police departments in their home nations.
They would be demanding a free enterprise system so they would have the opportunity to prosper without having to leave their friends and families to obtain that opportunity in the U.S.A.
They should go home and vent their frustrations there rather than coming here and breaking our laws!

Would you have so much compassion if an illegal immigrant broke into your home and murdered your child? I know this is an extreme example that may never happen but it could. Illegal immigrants are criminals hence "illegal".

You shouldn't hate the people, that is true. I know plenty of smoking people and they aren't criminals. I think its the governments fault, they ignored their problem, and now they have to pay the consequences. Amnesty is the answer. If they would have had had the problem under control, we wouldn't be hearing about it right now would we?
