My friend moved into this apt.next door that has old brown hair dye that has stained the floor. I know it has been there for at least a year because I knew who lived there before and I knew when she dyed her hair. She also couldn't get the hair dye off of the floor! The Landlord won't change the flooring either. Can anyone give us an idea what my friend what she can use to get this up and off of the floor?

Could you try a paint thinner? Just use a little bit on a brush, and gently go over the area. This will take off the dye, as well as the finish on the floor, so you may have to varathane/paint that area again. If it's a carpet that it's stained, try getting some heavy-duty carpet cleaner and a machine. You can usually rent them from a grocery store or a place like Sears. If it's something like tile or that cushiony-stuff that looks like tile...I really don't know what you could try, other than an industrial strength floor cleaner from a hardware store.

Blot the stain immediately with a clean, white cloth.
Mix a solution of 1/4 tsp. liquid hand-dishwashing soap and 1 cup lukewarm water.
Blot stain with soap solution, using a clean, white cloth. Blot from the outside of the stain, working inward.
Let sit a few minutes.
Mix a solution of 1 part vinegar to 2 parts lukewarm water.
Dab stain with vinegar solution, again working from the outside in.
Once the stain has disappeared, flush the area with cold water and blot dry with a clean, white cloth.
