If you have been married before but your fiance hasn't and you are going to have a big wedding, would you wear white and not care what people may say or not. I know it's tradition not to but, would it be horrible to wear white.

It is no longer considered a faux pas to wear white for a 2nd or 3rd, etc. wedding. Im getting married for the 2nd time too and my fiance has never been married and he wants the big traditional wedding, so I'm wearing a traditional white bridal gown. This guy is my soulmate and I am having more fun this time around planning my wedding. I'm having everything I wanted and didnt have the first time (even though it also was a traditional wedding). I'm even doing a cinderella theme cuz I love that story and Im 44 yo. He's 30 and is just as excited about the plans as I am. Go for it. Congrats and enjoy all the planning.

Wearing white or not, is really not so much of a tradition anymore and it was mainly for a sign of purity or virginity. Today just about anything goes, if you are looking have you seen some of the real slutty dresses that they make, even if I was a virgin I would not wear some of the styles that they have today. I have a dress, never got to wear it, it is Winter White, I was worried about the whole wearing white after having a kid thing, but the dress is a beautiful traditional gown with at 5 foot train. I have had a hard time selling it because it is a size 4.

I'm going through the same thing ... and I just bought the whitest dress in the whole store this weekend ... lol ... this will be my second marriage - my fiance's first ... I pretty much said - it's going to be OUR day ... who cares what other people think ... if I want white - I'm wearing white - if he wants to wear shorts ... he can ... good luck ... I think throughout the years the whole white dress thing kinda faded ... how many " Virgin Brides " do you really think there are ... !

Honey, it's YOUR wedding. Wear whatever you want!

I wore white. I've been married before; my husband had not. I did the whole nine yards for the wedding because he and his family had not experienced his wedding before, and frankly, no one, with the possibility of his sister who is just rude, said anything about me wearing white. I say go for it!

And that only first time brides can wear white thing flew out the window years ago, thank goodness!

It doesn't matter about the white...I wouldn't only because I tried on a dress in white, and I looked sooo washed out! I looked way better in ivory...but that has nothing to do with anything....you realize that there will always be people around interested in raining on your parade, so do what you want-a white dress isn't scandalous! At the end of the day, its just a dress!

Wear whatever you want to wear! Bridal color "tradition" has really started going out the window...new brides can wear all sorts of beautiful colors, and "non-traditional" brides can wear white and creams if they feel like it.

When I got married the first time bridal color was just coming "in," and I wanted this gorgeous peachy colored dress, and my jerk fiance insisted I wear white (and I was dumb enough to let him sway me), The second time around I wore a cream dress because it was the one I liked best, and we married outside, so I figured it'd be easier to keep looking clean for the pictures. One of my cousins had a huge second wedding, her husband's first, and she wore a beautiful white ball gown and was perfectly happy with it.

It's *your* day--make it work for you!

I think just being the bride equals wearing white, regardless of how many times you've been married. Throw the rest out the window.

You can wear white.....what I would suggest though is maybe pick a gown with either colored crystals or some sort of colored fabric on it, such as a sash around your waist or as trim. From what I've been seeing of the new style of gowns is that color is "in". Congratulations and good luck finding your dream dress!

I've seen people whose toddlers were in the wedding & they still wore white. Nothing has been said to them, so I'm sure nothing will be said to you. We "shacked up" even & I wore the whitest dress I could find, I didn't get stoned to death on my way down the asile. :) Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful!

Wear what you want. The old rules do not apply. If the old rules applied, 80-90 percent of the brides and grooms would come dressed in red.
