I'm 17 and I just got a job with McDonald's, and I've heard about tax returns, and I was wondering how I can pay more taxes and let the government keep my tax return. Is this possible? I want to pay more taxes that the government can actually keep. Thanks

I want to give to the government, not a charity. I'm just asking how I can do it. Can you send them a check?

Actually you can make donations to the government. Each department has rules on how you might do such a thing. The following link is for the Department of Commerce. It was just the first that I found so every Department will have something similar. You can not give anything to individuals nor may you give the intent of getting anything back (sort of like with taxes).
However it would be much wiser if you were to put that money in some sort of savings plan. When you are "old" you will have lots of money and will not need to be dependent on the government.

If you want the government to keep your tax refund, and you are not required to file, do nothing. Your refund will be forfeited and kept by the government.

If you are required to file, and you are due a refund, you can either accept your refund and then mail in a check, or you can indicate on Line 74a of Form 1040 that you want zero of the refund paid to you.

In any case, you can send the federal government money to reduce the public debt.

From the Treasury Direct website:

Make your check payable to the Bureau of the Public Debt, and in the memo section, notate that it is a Gift to reduce the Debt Held by the Public. Mail your check to:

Attn Dept G
Bureau Of the Public Debt
P. O. Box 2188
Parkersburg, WV 26106-2188

tax refunds (a tax return is the form that you fill out) are an overpayment of taxes that were paid by your employer for you. only pay what you owe-no more, unless you actually trust politicians-lol. the government is full of liars, cheats and thieves.
donate extra money on your own, if you wish, to whatever charitable organization you want, and then take the tax deduction for being such a nice person. we really should get all of our pay and then have to make a check out every month for our taxes. then people would realize what they are actually paying.

This is a quote from www.irs.gov

In the search box, type "reduce public debt"

How do you make a gift to reduce debt held by the public? If you wish to do so, make a check payable to “Bureau of the Public Debt.” You can send it to: Bureau of the Public Debt, Department G, P.O. Box 2188, Parkersburg, WV 26106-2188. Or you can enclose the check with your income tax return when you file.

There used to be a line on the tax return for this.

The bedroom tax is only on council housing. As none of the Queen's homes are owned by the council, they aren't subject to them, in the same vein that commoners who own their own houses with spare bedrooms are not. Aristocrats aren't encouraged to do anything because their homes are privately owned. The government cannot tell people what to do in their own houses, royal, noble or otherwise. The story of stately homes being left to rot is incredibly rare. Most that are killed off these days are due to the extortionate amount of inheritance tax they are slapped with. Stately homes are staying alive by offering marriages or by tourists. Turning them into hostels would be the death of them, have you ever stayed in a hostel before?

You can send them a check. I don't imagine they get a lot of those.

If you have withholding taken out of your check but don't owe anything and don't file, then you won't get your refund so you'll essentially donate your money to the government.

Why would you want to pay more in taxes then the government asks for? You owe it to your government to pay taxes, but you owe it to yourself NOT to pay more then your fair share (and determining your fair share is what tax law is all about).
