Well ,I would agree with most answers there. That's right that you would better be surrounded with Muslim friends . And you are right the USA is not to blame ...... you know why ? becase when I'm there I feel that I want to be an idial Muslim to show people who know nothing about the real Islam what Islam is .
I used to pray every Jum'a "Friday" at masjed & I used to attend so many classes at masjed also to stay with muslim friends as much as possible.
But unfortunately ,when you go to muslim country you feel that this is the norml thing ..& a lot of people don't encourage you to pray at masjed ,they say ..it's ok you can pray at home..oh you busy with exams why are you going to masjed ???? and all this silly stuff. Ofcourse it's ok to pray at home "for me as a girl" but why not to get more sawab and go to masjed... believe me being in the USA or any other country that is a non-muslim country is better for you ..Allah has choosen you to show them how muslims are great ,so don't waist this chance & stay strong . you said your conscience is right ..but you don't follow ...that means you are a good person , the right comes from inside you not from someone else ....right ? that's great mashallah .
I know your feeling .. I've been in so many silly situations , for example when i said "sorry, I don't kiss guys" people who were not that close to me thought that i'm a '''''' !!!! but I satayed strong & told them it's my religion ...later on they respected me for respecting my religion .
Read Qur'an (even some few verses per a day.)...do your 5 prayers & treat every body as well as you want them to treat you back. Don't give up any good thing that you did but came invain ...Allah will reward you for this.
Good luck my brother & don't forget ... you are strong enough.

it's probably because times are changing are people are becoming more westernised. Just have fun with your friends and don't worry about not becoming a very islamic person. Trust me, it is better to be a muslim in countries like the UK and USA instead of somewhere like iraq and pakistan where random poeple throw stones at you on the streets if you do not look like a muslim or where tops where the sleeves are only 3/4 long!!!! also, you do not have to be forced to marry a random person who you do not speak to till you get locked up into a bedroom together!!!
when you say you do different things, do you mean drinking and clubbing? don't worry about it. a lot of people are confused with religion now adays!!!

Salam!
I am going through the exact situation as you, and I live in the USA as well. Sometimes my conscience is telling me to do what's right, and I go against it and follow what everyone else does. I have been losing faith, and it's becoming a big problem.
What I'm trying to do is just to listen to that conscience; don't ignore it. No matter what the situation is, just remember that Allah (swt) rewards those who decide to do right over wrong. Keep in mind Allah's (swt) rewards, which will be great.
Don't lose hope, keep praying. Do whatever you can to bring yourself closer to Allah (swt). I will pray for you and other Muslims who have this problem, inshaAllah. Allah (swt) knows best.

Every day is Jihad ("struggle in the way of God" or "to struggle to improve ones self and/or society".) One thing about being a Muslim in the USA is the way Salaat is looked at by Non-Muslims. It's a beautiful thing how Muslims overseas stop what they are doing and offer Salaat right where they stand, alone or in groups with total strangers. Imagine doing that here in the USA. I spoke with and read letters from soldiers who admired that dedication. There is nothing wrong with you. You are admitting that you don't listen to your conscience which is right, that is being human. Humble yourself, I can recall my first months in becoming a student of Islam I felt that everything negative was trying to influence me Ten-fold. Stay strong and remember, everyday is Jihad.

IN the US, you have freedom of choice in most matters, so it is up to you to be spiritual. I'm sure it is a lot easier to be Muslim in a Muslim dominated society because it is in your face all day long. Just keep living life the right way.

Maybe deep down you feel Islam is just not true.
You've been exposed to the corrupting influences of freedom of thought by living in the USA. Maybe it's not enough that you were just raised that way.
You need to do some soul searching, and maybe some research, to find your own truths.

Insha'Allah, hang out at the masjid and chill with some of the brothers. Surround yourself with other Muslims. Visit the masjid on the weekends if you can. Insha'Allah, this will help.

This is why Muslims are encouraged to surround themselves with other Muslims. Satan is everywhere.
