A bunch of people at my church have recently come down with some sort of virus, but I was one of the first to get it and have been having it worse than most. It started as the worst sore throat--burning where I could only eat icy things, burning moved into my ears, my ears plugged up, and my neck swelled up to where it felt like I had injured it (ie very stiff and sore). 3 days in, my sinuses finally clogged. I went to the walk in clinic, got antibiotics and was diagnosed with acute sinusitis and bronchitis. The next day I had the worst sinus pain in history and my neck was so swollen, even blowing my nose or lifting my head hurt. Day nine of this illness and the sinus pain is gone but I am so fatigued and my neck is still sore. I sleep 16+ hours a day. I'm still blowing a bunch of crap out my nose. I'm beginning to panic that I'm getting something more severe like mono. I'm a healthy person who can go years without getting colds or sinus infections.Does anyone know what I may have?

It could be a number of things. First of all if it was a virus you never should have gotten antibiotics. So that tells me that it is bacterial. It could possible be mono. I think it is probably a bacterial strain that you body has never been immunized to or never been infected with. Sinusitis does not clear up over night or even a week.. You could be blowing stuff out for months. Bronchitis can be related to the sinusitis form the drainage it creates. The only way to find out if you have mono is to get a lab test done. DO NOT LET A DOCTOR TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE IT WITHOUT A CONFIRMATION TEST. The medications can get expensive especially if they are not needed.

Go to the doctor and have a mono test done. When I had mono years ago all I wanted to do is sleep. You will not get better unless you get the proper mediction- good luck and I hope you feel better soon !!

sound like that right diagnosis bronchitis takes forever to go away so does sinusitis.

Its important to check with your doctor if the medication they gave you are not helping. I would advise you to make another appoitment and hopefully it will be better .
