Has it ever occurred to you that the concept of "species" or "extinction" are purely man made? Nature could not care less. Either an organism can adapt or it will perish and it's place taken by another more adaptable organism.

That includes us.

I would go nowhere and do nothing to stop extincton. It is our interference with the natural world which has caused the most extinctions, not prevented them.
