We just got a kitten from the pound on 5/31/07. He's 3 months old. He was cleared for everything that day, leukemia, fleas, etc. He got his rabies shot that day also. Since he's been home he's been sneezing and drooling a lot. We figured it may be a cold from being in the Humane Society, so we got antibiotics that we had for our other cats before, and the vet said it was ok to give him. We're just worried because he's not very playful at all and he just sits there and looks at you. He's so cute, just doesn't play much. We have 3 other cats, and they play and sniff at him but he just doesnt want bothered. What could be wrong? Another thing that worries me is that he nibbles at our fingers and noses when he sitting on our chests or pillows - its almost like he's trying to find a nipple - does he need a bottle?

Kittens are fighters and if you have done everything you can for him (going to the vet), sometimes you have to wait it out. I had a kitten that was very sick. She wouldn't play, snotty nose, sneezing and slept all day. There were times I wasn't sure she was going to make it. The vet said she had a cold it's also called Rhinovirus. Make sure that he is eating and using the potty...if he stops any of that take him to the vet. It will pass and he'll build an immunity to it. Just give him lots of TLC and once he is better he'll be so attached to you. As for the sucking on fingers and nose, he probably is looking for a nipple and you can purchase a bottle and milk at Wal-Mart. That can be normal for a kitten and it to will go away.

Good luck!

He doesn't need a bottle at this age, but he may have this habit because he was separated from his mum too early. As for his mood, give him time to adjust. Just make sure he is OK, because the shot combined with the antibiotics may have been hard on him. Ask the vet to check him a bit.

Sometimes when they are sick they do look for a bottle. I know my cats have allergies really bad. You might need to take him to the vet. There could be something seriously wrong with it. I'd hate to see you lose the kitten. I know they are cute.

He just may be lonely. Poor kitty. I'm sure he will adjust to you and his new kitty friends in a couple of days. Just give him lots of love and attention.
