Your money would be gone. The USSR made some of the finest fighters in the world. The MIG's, the Sukhois, all were fantastic aircraft. They were/are capable of taking off anywhere, as opposed to our fighters which have to be babies. They have great combat capabilities.
The Harrier would probably be my vote.

I would vote for the Harrier Jet. 2/3 were lost in combat, the worst performance ever. It's VTOL capability demanded it be light, which meant it lacked armor. The VTOL capability was dangerous too, many jets were lost attempting a vertical take off or landing.
Many of the fighter planes made by the USSR were and still are top quality.

USSR and now Russia make some of the very best military weapons in the world. The problem is they dont maintain it. Its only good when its brand new.
The US and rest of the world are usually playing catch up to them. We just happen to do a much better job making sure our stuff continues to work as designed by taking care of it better (this has slipped a lot since the Cold War ended).
I vote Harrier. Completely useless other than the vertical takeoff.

Mmmmm its so hard to say, you'd have to go by number of units made and length of service. And there is alot of fighters & Bombers had a short service length. If you asked for qa bomber, the B-36 was obsolete before the first one came off the assembly line, fighter, a tougher nut to crack.

23 planes were shot down by harriers in combat not 23 were shot down. The record of it is 23-0. No fighter planes have armour dumby. Get your facts right
