What are some fun things to do in New York?

My dad is taking me (15), my brother (17), and my sister(13) to New York on the 20th. It's my dad's second time in 20 years going, and my first. What are some fun things, that aren't tooo expensive, that are unique in New York. They also need to be appropriate for teens and their dad!

While Tickets for a show would be good - if you are on a budget even at the ticket place in times sq - it can still be pricey.
Things to do that are inexpensive? I think the boat to the statue of liberty and ellis Island is like 7 dollars.
walking around is always just an interesting and fun thing to do - Canal St - and China Town are fun and cheap.
if you are here for any length of time you can take the subway out to coney island - astro land is gone after this year.

Start out walking 59th Street and visit the theme restaurants. Then you could look at the stores then stop at the Broadcast Museum. Once that's done, go to Lincoln Center across the Street and see the huge water fountain sprays. If you getting there at the right time, they will let you inside the acoustically tuned building. Once that's done, walk across the street to Central Park. Walk east until you get to the Central Park Zoo. Visit the exhibition and the inside shows. Once finish, walk around Central Park and visit the Great Lawn and other attractions.

Go site seeing, especially the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and others. But not the Twin Towers anymore. :(
