The federal government takes 8-15 days to release a refund electronically. If you have your refund direct deposited into you bank account, you will receive your money in 8-15 days.

If you have a check mailed to you, the government takes an additional 7 days to prepare the paper check and mail it. Add 3 or 4 days for the check to reach you. Total time is then between 18 - 26 days from the day your return was electronically accepted.

You can check the status of your refund on irs.gov. Click on "Where's my refund" and enter the required information.
