I know of many people that have had it done and have varied answers to the pain factor. Some have said it doesn't hurt, some have said it only hurts for a short while, while some have said that it was very painful. The better question you should ask is, how badly do you want it (becuase your adrenaline will help you get through the pain) and what is your true pain threshold. If you really want the piercing, then it will be worth your experience. Just remember to be stoic about your cleaning regime so that you aren't dealing with any other repercussions/pain. Good luck!

When I got mine done they didn't numb it. The clamp that they put on me hurt worse than the actual piercing. The clamp holds the skin in place so it sits just like your ear lobe, then they push it through. Really fast and painless. It's sore for awhile afterwards, but not that big a deal.

I was a BIG baby when I got my first tat and was scared to death when I got my bellybutton pierced.... but honestly, it hurt less than getting my ears pierced. I now have 4 tats, plus the piercing. Good luck, it's addictive!

I can't claim to understand why people want to put holes in their bodies, I consider it self mutilation. I will tell you this, in my thirty years of nursing, I have seen a great many infected bellybutton peircings. And when they get infected, they are not only painful, they are dangerous because they are close to vital blood supplies. I urge you to reconsider.

I thought it would be similar to having my ears pierced. It is not. It is like taking a knife to you. It hurt so badly that I still was shaking a half an hour later. Also, it is an infection fest! It gets infected so often it is ridiculous. I ended up letting it close because I was tired of dealing with constantly having an infection.

It doesn't hurt at all, LOL... no worse than a regular ear piercing! Mine hurt at no time, just take care of it properly... like cleaning it etc...
I had my ear cartilage pierced and that hurt worse than my belly...
Hope this helps! =)

It hurts quite a bit, but they do try to numb you and be quick about it. It also tends to bleed more than your average piercing.

It happens so fast that you might not even notice any pain. Seriously.
