He that curseth his father, or his mother [A rebellious son/daughter], shall surely be put to death. -- Exodus 21:17

God is commanding people to kill the rebellious children who disobey the wishes of the parents in marriage, business etc.

here's the thing, there was no means to obtain salvation but through the law. Jesus had not come yet to give salvation freely. This is how sin was dealt with before Jesus. . .
Why are people reading so much into the old testament to prove a point? The new testament clearly states that the old had been done away with because a Savior had come. Geez, brush up on your arguments!

you are talking about an uncivilized time where life was all about kill or be killed. not to mention that every culture on the planet was just struggling to make it.

we are used to the problems that they were either. a rebellious child (and most likely they dont mean little kid either) could have been the ruin (i mean ruined life, cast out of society, starve to death or killed) of the whole family.
rebellion didnt mean just running off with the chariot or staying out that with his inn buddies it meant beating you sister or stealing from your neighbor. things that could pontenially cause irreprable harm to the family.

they were harsh times. there were no dr. phils and oprahs back then.

You'd first have to define what a "honor killing" is before one could answer your question.

As for the verses, times were a little different back then. Rebelliousness could literally doom a family and possibly more.

I think you should stop posting incorrect passages from the Bible. I just went to a few in the last answer you posted about disciplining children, and every single one was incorrect.
