Everyone says no... Interesting. But this is not the same for a wedding?

No, a gift is never *required* but it is particularly not required if you have already given a gift at a baby shower. Personally, I would take the new family a nice meal so that they don't have to cook one night after they get home with the baby (that is if you want to do something.) Otherwise, a card is perfect.

I would just say something like, you guys are going to be great parents, congratulations on the new addition to your family, I wish you all many happy years together, or something like that.

Good luck!

No you do not have to give a gift after the birth.

Gifts at a wedding/reception are NOT required.

I think, if its baby/bridal showers, that usually means a gift is expected, as it is a party to "shower" someone with baby or bridal gifts.

When it is after a birth or at a wedding or an engagement party, they are not required.

Flowers might be nice, since most of the stuff is for the baby at the shower....everyone forgets that mom needs pampering too! Maybe even chocolates or something while she's still at the hospital. thats what I would do anyway. Once someone gave my mom a bunch of really nice bath salts and lotions and stuff, but that can also get pricey.
In the card, simple is best...Congratulations and best wishes for your new family is always appropriate.

Hi..It's really not necessary, being you already gave a gift at the shower..for the card: "Congratulations on your precious son/daughter" Flowers when you visit mom at the hospital would be nice! There are so may cute and beautiful greeting cards for new parents..Take care!

No. The gift at the baby shower will do. After all, they will likely use the gift on the baby AFTER it's born, so there's no need to give anything again.

It depends on how close you are. If you are real close, I would imagine you wouldn't be able to STOP yourself ffrom buying a ton of gifts! Not so close-one gift will do the trick. Maybe send a congrats card after baby is born.

No, you've already given a gift.
In the card, a simple congratulations should suffice.

No...you've already given. You could just offer suport to your friend....like can I come around and cook you a meal, or something positive like that....or if they are a really good friend...and if you like babies......make up some little baby sitting vouchers to give them, so you could help them out that way.
Greetings on cards.......congratulations,....just keep it simple.
