Because those myths tell them to hate one another.
Jews vs Moslems:
Each believe they are still involved in a sibling rivalry as sons of Abraham.
Christians vs Moslems:
Each believe that everyone must convert to their faiths, if not by free will then by force.
Christians vs Jews:
At least that one is pretty much over, except a few loons here and there. They believe Jews were responsible for killing Jesus, completely forgetting that Jesus and his apostles and all of his supporters were Jewish as well.

The hatred is the point, the myths are just a means to justify it. Religious people (IN GENERAL) are an ignorant bunch who only think using their lower, reptilian brain. Aggression, obedience to authority, distrust of strangers, etc.
The details are unimportant, which is why people embrace the "faith" of their home region as the "True" one without ever looking into others. Window dressing really.
The small-minded lash-out, it's their nature.

Because it is in our nature to hunt down members of other tribes just like the primates do or the wild animals in the jungle. We have not yet evolved. Different religions are just an excuse. We are all unfortunately born racists. Try reading Richard Dawkins: The shelfish Gene.

because each religion wants to have the greatest control / power over the other people who don't believe in their religious beliefs;

They think their mythical beings are the real ones and so anyone who believed in another takes that as an insult to their god. Then they fight about it instead of letting their gods do something about it - completely defying everything the gods supposedly stand for.
I'm christian but 101% tolerant of others.
