The feeling seems to come from nowhere. Its makes me understand their perception of a situation, and i become more accepting of how others are looking at the world when i understand the feeling that they have. And then when my mind analyses the feeling that i get about them, it seems to have some logical credit in retrospect of my observations of thier physical behaviour. I am starting to be much more accepting of other people, because i feel like i have had a short glimpse into their feelings....

These feelings are usually ones that i have not usually associated with before, so where do they come from?

Is there a psychological explanation, or is it the domain of the metaphysical?

It is the domain of the spirit, or more accurately, the Holy Spirit if you are a Christian. It's quite normal, or at least is more common among people than you realize. It is listed in 1 Corinthians 12 as among the Spiritual Gifts. (word of knowledge, or discernment of spirits)

Yes. It's called empathy. There is both a psychological and a metaphysical explination for it. I actually heard recently on the radio that they had discovered some chemicals in the body related to empathy, but unfortunately I wasn't paying close enough attention to tell you anything useful about it.

I would just call that empathy. It's just that you are able to look at things from a different perspective and to understand how another feels without necessarily feeling it for yourself. I would say it is psychological, probably resulting at least in part from being raised to think of how your actions make another feel.

I truly believe that "evil" arises from a lack of empathy. How can you be cruel when you know how it makes another feel?

Psychological.

Neal Stephenson once pointed out that one of the most relevant signs of being human is being able to appreciate subtlety. Human brains are *extremely* good at picking up subtle gestures that often convey emotion--this is what separates good actors from bad actors, for example.

Some humans do not pick up on this sort of thing, for instance many with Asperger's Syndrome, and thus have to be coached. This stands out because it's not the norm.

Actually, there is. It is called Empathy, and it is the ability to feel another's pain, suffering, or feelings. It is totally normal. I think it is extreme compassion and understanding, in many cases. Many people get it. My mother has it, I get it; I know friends who get it. It is nothing to worry about. Cheers!

It's empathy. But many don't understand or recognize it. I have it and it's not always easy to deal with it. I sometimes know people better then they know there selves. I choose to not use it much any more. So much negative. But you can email me , i could go more in depth.

Completely normal. You can relate to people on an emotional level. Nothing supernatural about that. I can do that too. It's usually due to being in tune with and aware of your own emotions.

Buddhism calls that right-mindfulness, you have become aware of your actions and their effects on other people, alllowing you to deduce the most logical course of action. Congratulations, right-mindfulness is not an easy thing to accomplish...

What you describe is empathy and it is a characteristic of personality many have -- innate and subtle and frequently coupled with another trait known as intuition.
