I have a severed nerve in my back, (one that is a major nerve to the scapular) caused by the slip of a surgeons knife during a simple biopsy. Has anyone got any suggestions as to 're grow' or 'reattach' the nerve and ease the pain and strain??? And no, I cant sue the hospital!

I am going to the physio again to ease the pain but i want some more ideas...

This happened in 2001.
Thanking you in advance

I have never heard of anything that can "reattach" or "regrow" a nerve if it has been severed. I can only suggest that you try acupuncture or an osteopath to see if the the pain can be alleviated by some adjustments, etc.

I had a nerve that was severed under my arm during surgery to remove lymph nodes, after a breast cancer diagnosis. The outcome in my case however is a completely numb underarm, which also extends partially to my back and upper arm on that side. Fortunately I don't have any pain, but I must be VERY careful when I shave because I wouldn't realize if I was bleeding to death on that side!!

Hope you find a solution, but I think one of the two (acupuncture or an osteopath...not a chiropractor!) might be worth the cost to try.
Wishing you the best!

I have never heard of a nerve regrowing, that would in itself be a miracle, I have severe nerve damage to my spine and it would be miraculous if they could regenerate the nerves.
I'm afraid for now this is something right out of Sci-fi for now, maybe in the not to distant future.
I'm not saying the nerves don't heal, they do but very slowly and sometimes they just stop. There have been new inroads in nerve damage and regrowing but, it's not something that's done on a daily basis for now.
