do you believe people are born gay or that they are taught to be gay? if you believe people are born gay, then only god could have made that decision for them, provided god does exist.
however, if you don't believe people can be born gay, then is it fair to say that you can't be born straight either? is our sexuality learned? if that's the case, then how can christians and other theists argue what's "natural"? even in nature you can find examples of animals participating in homosexuality.

on the whole nature vs. nurture thing... i think i tend to side more with the nurture side of the arguement. i don't believe anyone is born one way or the other. that's not to say i believe we have a choice as to what we want to be as far as our sexuality goes. each of is indeed a "snowflake" as far as experiences in our lives go. to say that because two people were raised by the same parents doesn't really factor in much on whether they will both be gay or straight because there are literally millions of other factors that weigh into that decision during their formative years. that's just my opinion anyway. either way i think people should be able to be themselves, regardless if they were born that way, they learned to be that way, or even if they just made the choice to be that way.

I believe you that homosexuals are either born gay or have experienced something relativly traumatic to cause them to convert themselves. It really does not matter how homosexuality comes about, it is reality. I myself am a lesbian. My sister saw the signs in me when I was very young. AND I suffered a traumatic event as a child. Who knows which came first. Was I born gay or did I become gay? Either way, I am a lesbian.... and there is nothing wrong with me. I am a functioning member of society with a son and a home and a professional career. (p.s. I am not christian)

People are born gay or straight. That's that. I'd link the study some scientists did on the brains of gay males and straight females, but I don't know where the link is anymore, yahoo got rid of it.
Anyway, in the study, they found that gay male brains react the same way that straight female brains to male endorphines. Straight men didn't react at all to the male endorphine.
Gay is a mutation. I believe it is nature's way of population control. I said its a mutation, I did not say it was bad. After all, some time in our evolutionary history, we would have had to mutate to adapt. Perhaps this is the animals' way of adapting to increasing population while the land and resources are decreasing.
It is natural for a man and woman to be together, not because religion tells us, but because that is how our genetic make up works to pass on and procreate. It is nature, not religion. But that doesn't make being gay bad, it is actually just another part of nature.
And humans are not so different than animals. We are just another species of animal. Our natural weapon is our brain and the ability to think. Tigers have claws, wolves have fangs, humans have brains that can adapt and think through a problem (since we have no other natural weapons). To those that think we are better than animals, go get lost in the woods and see how well you do.

I believe that human sexuality is learned behavior. I have gone over the reasons before, and nobody listened or cared, so I won't repeat myself.
There are no animals that are exclusively homosexual, because if they were, the species (and their gay genes) would die out after a generation. Animals mount other animals to either show dominance, or to find sexual release when there aren't enough available females, but with the exception of artificially mutated fruit flies, there is no animal that is exclusively gay.
The best that you can say is that some animals are bisexual.
If people are either born straight or gay, then human bisexuality is hard to explain, now isn't it?
If we humans are all basically bisexual, then sexual preference must be an ingrained habit that has been formed over time through a series of decisions, actions, parent's influence, and peer pressure. Some of the process must be subconscious, so we assume that it "just happens".

Human sexuality is located at delivery, simply as it's with different animals. In truth, bisexual and gay conduct has been documented in additional than 450 animal species international. The e-book Biological Exuberance is a fine compilation of this study. There are simply as many gays and lesbians now as there ever had been earlier than -- approximately 10% of the total populace. This is right in all places on the earth. The simplest change is how open persons are in a position to be approximately their sexuality. Needless to mention, in international locations in which homosexuality is unlawful, homosexual tradition is pushed underground.

People are the way they are and yes I think they are born that way. We might think our sexuality is learned but many poor souls have suffered greatly by trying to be what is not natural to them - just to appease the bible bullies. If you believe that each of us was created by God then you also need to accept the differences in His creations. We are all different and that is great. How boring the world would be if we were all the same. Live and Let Live. Judge not.....

I think it's widely accepted by intelligent people that homosexuality is part of a genetic trait that implys predisposition to same sex attraction. I dont think it has anything to do with any of the many gods worshiped throughout the world, and is a natural part, though less common of human existence. No real christian would shun a homosexual, nor would a loving god. Anything in the bible to speak against homosexuality is just the words of man, and should not be regarded with much creedence.

At first I thought it was a choice for people to become gay.
Then I did some research and it turns out that many other animal species exibit homosexual characteristics, so that is extremely strong evidence that it is not a conscious decision but rather a genetic mutation that causes attraction to beings of the feature set of the same sex instead of the opposite.
We're still not 100% certain - that's the reason for the debates - but we're getting close.

Everything starts in the mind. You first have to think it , then the next thing , you find yourself doing it . Satan attacks the mind , if you refuse it in your mind , the battle is already half won. Satan temps us with whatever he chooses and it's up to us to heed the temptation or to turn it down . Homosexuality is like any other sinful behavior . Sin is sin , and " we all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God " . People will tell you they were born that way. For some , who say that , it is a quick excuse for them not willing to change and others might in their mind be fully convinced that they were born that way. That just proves that the enemy , the devil has deceived them . I know what I am talking about , because satan already tried me with that , I could have given into that easily and ruined my marriage ,but I decided to pray and trust God and He removed that feeling from me.
ALL things are possible with God and if He can deliver me ,He can deliver anyone .

hey genius......most inmates are not gay, but that doesn't stop them from butt raping each other.
even animals need to satisfy sexual urges, and when no female is available, they will do the next best thing. it does NOT mean they're homosexual though.
this question has been asked a billion times on R&S.........come up with something new for hells sake

I believe we were all born with a sin nature, and if that person's sin nature is to be gay then that is their sin defect.
We all have an area or areas where we sin more and that is just theirs. A gay man is a sinner, A straight man is a sinner etc...
