Keep trying every day, the female will not let the male mount her until she is ovulating, you cannot tell when that is exactly and every dog is different. Some can be ready in the first week and some the second and so on...I would try again tomorrow and if she still is not accepting him try the next day and so on. When she is ready she will know and will let him mount her.

Yes when she's in the certain heat cycle, she will mate with any and all males willing - which means the pups can have a different father for each of them. Why would you allow your male to breed? He should be neutered if he's not a top quality show dog. And even if he was, he should be tested for genetic diseases, OFA cleared first. He should be bred to only another top quality female. So since he is one of the fathers of these puppies, are you taking the responsibility of the care and the expense of them?

I had two collies and although they lived and played together she would not let him mount her. Do you really think we need more dogs with all that ar in the shelters. Instead get your dogs spayed they'll both be happier and healthier

Yes, she will not allow him to mount until she is ready. And just like humans and all animals they may not take to each other at all. You can not force mating if they will not do it.

When a female is fertile, she will "flag" or lift her tail and stand for the male.

It's normal, she's not ready.

And neither are you. If you have to ask this question here you don't know anywhere near enough to be breeding dogs. Please keep them separate until she is out of season and do some research before you attempt this.

Too many dogs and puppies die because of unknowledgeable "breeders".

she may not like him...or she may be too young, and not know what's going on, or she may just plain be too young. Or she may not be ready to stand yet.

It's normal, and for Heaven's sake please spay and neuter your pets if you're unedcuated in breeding methods, and if you don't plan on breeding high quality dogs.

maybe he isn't a nice doggy. Or maybe she just isn't in the mood...he should try and romance her first. Actually I don't know anything about doggy sex... I shouldn't even be answering sorry.
