If only taxpayers funded campaigns, then our 'leaders' would not be pushing legislation for special interests.

For example, our 'leaders' would write and pass the law for national id cards first, before closing the border. If you needed a card to work, to receive any benefits (U.S. taxpayer money), or to do anything in our country, millions would leave...VOLUNTARILY!

Our 'leaders' don't make campaigns funded by taxpayers the law because THEY WERE ELECTED WITH THE CURRENT SYSTEM. But they are obligated to the few who put them into office, and those people want cheap labor.

They seem to think that they own this country and can do whatever they want to greedily, selfishly transfer wealth from the U.S. taxpayer to themselves, as they force taxpayers to pay for the benefits to illegal and legal immigrants, and destroy our wildlife/forests/wide open spaces/groundwater.

You don't have to separate families. When aliens leave, they can take their anchor babies with them.

KP: Everyone should write to their congresspeople. If enough people write, call, fax and email, they will do the will of the people. Some really WANT to change the system, but are prevented.

MsV: Our laws will not be enforced until taxpayers fund campaigns. Write your congresspeople. Should...could...enforce will not do it.

MsiCon: My ancestors came here and were here legally. There are more Mexicans in our country now than there were in all of Mexico less than 100 years ago.

Our country is being destroyed: forests, vernal pools that are the nurseries of the forests (causing mass extinction), wide open spaces, groundwater, peace and quiet, and a whole lot more.

PUSH BACK!

"Special interest" groups and many lobbyist are turning this country into something that no citizen wants. Such needs to be stopped. The will of the citizens of this country is being ignored in the quest for the money by professional politicians that do not have the best interests of citizens, but who's total focus is upon big business and what they get from them.

We need to get these people out of office. We need to vote every chance that we get to have our voices heard - or we may not be able to. Such is not an overstatement. It is a statement of fact. For lawbreaking to continue only takes those that can make the change to do nothing.

To stop illegal immigration we need to enforce the laws. Not ignore them as has been done all along since the very first amnesty - but enforce the laws.

Strange that something so simple seems to be more than too many within office seem to be able to grasp. To approach points of law any other way than enforcement is to disregard the law. We now see what such an approach will bring a country to within the United States. Enforcement is the only option that represents the will of the people and the laws.

Campaign funding has always been an issue and you are right many politicians pander to the special interest $$ that put them in office which basically means they are for sale.

Problem is most citizens do NOT want to pay for campaigns, did you know that less that 5% of the US checks the little $2 to go to campaign contributions box on your 1040's for the IRS each year? It is not an actual deducation, just a question.

I agree with you the people should be in control of campaigns and no more oil companies picking the "right man/woman for the job". Their loyalties should be with the taxpayers of their state/country!!!

US should implement a law against the illegal allien and their sponsors. They have modern ways of tracking alliens so why it took so long for them to deport those illegal aliens. Why not give a chance for people (especially old ones)to visit their children. They suffers too. Especially those who really miss their children. I think old people will not play hide and seek just to have a what everybody says a good life there. Not all people want to stay there. Some just go there for a visit once in a while. US is good for young and energetic people not for the older ones. I hope my letter could be an eye opener to the people of America especially the one who works in the embassy. Yes, US is a country of bread and honey but not all people want bread and honey. Some just want to see the place especially if their children and grandchildren are there. . There are some who are contented to live in their own country. All they want is just to experience the beauty of US even once in their life. I hope and pray that the President of the United States will give some people a chance to visit US. God bless America.

If cracking down on immigration is for a special interest group then that special interest group is over 60% of the nation according to the most recent polls.

Amen - but how can we change the system and even if we did, it would just get more corrupted. I'm sick of all this, if people would just make the right moral decisions (not being bought out - not thinking something illegal is ok), we wouldn't be in this mess.

What you don't realize is we need these immigrant workers to do the work that other American's will not. There are thousands of jobs that are not filled, due to American's not willing to work them. Some examples are cook, fruit harvester, meat packer, janitorial staff, etc. These jobs form the backbone of blue collar labor, which American's have distanced themselves from. To remove immigrants would prove distasterous to the surging economy.

Our leaders are doing what is best for the country and our economy.
