I'm kind of blue, so I would like some suggestions here.

I find that curling up with a good book and some music is relaxing - just enjoying my own company. Or "getting lost" in an absorbing movie.

Sometimes being "plugged in" to the internet, and the radio or whatever, all the time makes me somewhat stressed. Being alone brings me peace more often than it brings me loneliness. People, and crowds, sometimes disorient me.

Good luck. All the best, to a great person! :)

I've never liked the slogan, "Fake it 'til you make it." Whenever I've gone in that direction, it just makes me more aware of the discontent in the part of me that's truly me.

Lots of people self-medicate to escape their feelings, from using drugs and alcohol to partying without those to sex but also just to the high of romance to food, though the comfort of food might just last seconds. Everything addictive is about people trying to make themsleves happy, only to find it doesn't last. It takes a bigger dose, a faster car, a bigger office just to get the same jolt they had the first time they used something material or mind-altering to feel better.

True happiness takes time. I guess everyone has to fail with things that don't last first to appreciate the difference. True love lasts, be that between friends, family, romantically, or spiritually. Developing one's talents lasts, whether those are intellectual, organizing things, or artistic. They don't last forever any more than life lasts forever, but they last long enough to be truly happy.

While it takes a long time for love and self-improvement, you can go in that direction today. You can focus on friends. If your current friends drag you down, get new ones. If everyone you know is a scheming jerk, explore spirituality and see if you can get past the hype there to something loving.

You can focus on developing your talents. You need to make progress at something, even if it's just getting well from your blues.

This is how my discontent went away, even though I still think most of the world sucks. Some things are loving and true, like helping people, once you're used to the difficulties of that. Go after those.

This is really an eternal question. If you don't have a hobby you love to do, try to find one. Occupying your time is a good way to elevate your mood. Also, what works for some people, is a method known as "fake it till you make it." That is, if you're feeling down, act happy anyway and eventually you will be happy. Personally, it doesn't work for me, but it does work for a lot of the people that try it.

Only our Lord Jesus can fullfill that empty void one feels within their soul. I always felt sad & blue before I accpeted Jesus into my heart. He will give you such joy, love & peace that is beyond understanding.
Ask Jesus to help you with what you're feeling. Talk to Him like you would talk to your earthly father. He's waiting to hear from you. He Loves you very much.

What helped me open my heart to the Lord was reading "Power of a Praying Woman" by Stormie Omartian.
Prayer is very powerful dear friend.

Always know that God hears your prayers. God wants you to ask Him to help in all situations. Ask Him to come into your heart.

1Peter 5:7
7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Jeremiah 29:11-13
11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with All your heart.

Here is a Love letter from Almighty God to you. Very encouraging.

I hang out with my best friend. She ALWAYS knows how to cheer me up. I can get whatever is on my chest off of it and then we play Scrabble or have a drink or whatever. In fact, it doesn't even matter what we do. She just makes me happy.

you don't MAKE yourself happy, you choose to BE happy.
It is your brain, you can choose your emotions and your response to what is happening around you.
