onions get fried first. it takes them longer to get done and/or caramelize. garlic when over cooked tends to get bitter

Onions. Because onions need more time to get a little golder and if you fry garlics for that long you lose all the garlic flavor.

I always saute the onion first before adding the garlic. It takes longer for the onion to cook and it takes little time for the garlic to overcook.

I'd do onions first- need a little longer to saute and garlic is really just to have flavor infused into mixture

Onion first - it takes a little longer. Garlic burns really easily, and it's GROSS when it's burnt. (Not to mention, burnt garlic REEKS!)
