Are you that stupid? You think it is OK for your Dog to bite your child. I have 4 dogs, if they ever took a snap at my little boy I would kill them in a heart beat. I think you have your priorities really screwed up

NO you should not let this dog bite your child. If you don't correct the behavior now, later down the road you'll be sorry you didn't. The dog has associated this behavior as a tolerable behavior thus far he will continue to do it and it WILL get worse. He will begin to bite you, your husband, and any visitors. If he begins to bite visitors, look out either the city or town you live in will make you put the dog down ( to sleep) or you will get sued. Do not continue to let this dog bite, every time you see him bite or even nip at your child, you yell out the word NO, and say it like you mean it. Call the dog to you and make him stay beside you for a few seconds then give him a treat for coming to you. He will associate the treat with listening to what you command, you have to show this dog you are the boss, if not, they will show you.

Do you know that children ages 5 to 9 years have the highest rate of dog bite-related injuries?
But, if you really want to keep a dog in the house, before doing so, check these tips out:
1. Consult with a professional, for example a veterinarian or a responsible breeder, and get information about which suitable breeds for your household.
2. If your children are afraid of dogs, it’s best to delay getting it.
3. Always be cautious that you should never leave your children and infants alone with a dog.
4. Spend some time with a dog before you decide to buy or adopt it.
5. Get professional advice immediately if the dog shows aggressive behavior.

It is never ok for a dog to bite anyone! Even nipping can get them into a bad habit. What would happen if the dog did some serious injury to the child?? You would probably get mad at the dog and scold it and it wouldn't know it did anything wrong because you had previously let it "bite" the child. Dogs learn to get into a habit.
NEVER let them bite!!!! Even if someone broke into your house and the dog bit him/her you could get sued!!! I think the husband is right on this one. Teach the dog to lick instead.......no one ever got hurt from licks. A little gross but better than biting!

Your husband is absolutely right. Never let the dog bite anyone. He will learn that biting is okay and he can't distinguish the difference of who he can or cannot bite. If not corrected you will have an even bigger problem.

Its absolutely not ok. Dogs operate on a "pack mentality" . Allowing the pooch to view your child as a member of the pack instead of a leader of his pack will result in tragedy.

I have 5 dogs and they arent even allowed to look sideways at my kids. If they growl and nip now, they learn that you will allow them to 'bring your kids into line', which can get nasty later if they decide your child needs harder chastisment. I have never allowed my dogs to bite or nip or even growl at my kids, as far as my dogs are concerned, my kids are the top pack members.

to be honest your husband. you should NEVER allow your dogs to bite your children. my parents bred rotties for years and everytime one of the dogs growled at one of us kids or turned on us and bit us they were put to sleep. when that side of a dog comes out that is not good. that side coming out of your own dog who show love and affection to and then all of a sudden that comes out of them, i am sorry bat that is really bad news.i know it sounds cruel but there were good reasons for it. your dogs become your best friend and family. but the thing about that is your children always come first as you know being a mother yourself. if it is a playful bite with your child you need to train your dog to stop but if it is more than just a playful bite i would really consider either giving the dog to someone who does not have children or possibly to your nearest humane society. i would deffinatley be worried about the dog doing more possible damage to your child if it seems more than just a playful bite. there is a possibilty of the dog really turning on your child. i know your dog is family i have been in your shoes my self except that a couple of our dogs we bred or rescued turned on me as a child and my nephews over the years for NO reason. my mom always says that she can deal with the dog turning on her because the dog doesnt "take" too 2 autthority figures but she will never think twice when a dog turns on the children. i hope this has helped you to really sit back and watch how your dog is with your child. you need to see if it is playful or more than that. did the biting come out of nowhere? did your just all of sudden just bite him for no reason. if so you must get rid of your dog. when something like that happens, i am sorry but your playing with fire between your dog and your child. just REALLY watch how your dog is with your child. be with your child at all times when your dog is around. watch how the dog takes to your child. only then will you know how your dog really feels towards your child. i hope this helped a little.

It is not uncommon for a small puppy to nip trying to play because it hasn't learned it should not. Even a small child can teach otherwise - holler OUCH, put pup down and ignore it for several minutes. He'll soon learn nobody palys with him if he dosen't keep his teeth to himself.
