Ask yourself some questions? Does he have any hobbies? Is he interested in anything particular? Is he a sentimental person or no? Get him a gift certificate to a place where you know he would like to go eat, or where they sell the things he likes to work with (such as tools if he builds or works on cars or such), or a hunting and fishing store if he likes to do that...saves you from "buying that special gift but helps him get the gift he'd want and would use...any help???

I would go for a Good CD or something that he can relax to. Or a meal that you set up with your mum or you and your partner, or something that will give him good memories, that will last forever unlike material things that can only last so long.
