Subject: tell me how believing in nothing makes any sense?

Message: here you are walking every day on the earth that God made..and seeing the many wonderful things he made for the pleasure of the eyes to see, and yet you are a Athiest.. im not a very intellegent person and it don,t take a rocket scintist to convince me that the earth was made by a powerful spirtual force that is beyond my understanding...have you ever seen your brain? answer of course you haven,t ..but because you haven,t seen your brain that don,t mean your lacking a brain... so just as you haven,t seen God with your natural eyes doesn,t mean there is no God.. by being and Atheist you have sealed your fate to the eternal fires of hell where the eternal fires are never quenched and the soul of lost people spend endless ages..woman i would advise you to accept the truth that there really is a intellegent and loving God..who blessed you with those kids.. and you dont even thank him

I got one rude email from one christian out of about 30 emails so far. That's less than I expected.

I don't see that the email you were sent was particularly rude, except that it was an unwanted intrusion - a fact of life on the internet and not really worthy of singling out.

On the other hand, I would be irritated at that email too, not so much because it is a badly written intrusion, but because it's not even christian in it's so-called message. "sealed your fate to the eternal fires of hell" is clearly non-biblical and un-christian.

I haven't been here long and have so far have only had a couple of quite nice ones.

Looking at the messages you received, whilst not wishing to be insulting to the person who sent it, I have to point out that he/she shoots a bullet into his/her own foot: -

"...im not a very intellegent person and it don,t take a rocket scintist to convince me that the earth was made by a powerful spirtual force that is beyond my understanding..."

Well, quite. That says it all. A rocket scientist would be very underemployed. A glib conman would probably be sufficient.

I don't allow emails to myself because I don't want to spend the time reading or responding to hate mail. Someone must be very sad if they feel the need to write spiteful things to complete strangers. Sometimes I get rude comments on my questions, though, even some ethnic slurs. I think the best way to respond is by laughing it off and then writing back something nice. We have to set a good example to help show that atheists can be caring, loving people without a church telling us to.

Dear DragonTears,
this is another email (sort of) from a Christian, to fully apologise for the behaviour of those that I am associated with by belief. When they're rude to you, when they quote massive passages at you, when they presume you're stupid for not believing in God, when they don't answer your question and instead go on about their religion, when they preach at you, and when they act like they know it all.
And now I am going to say sorry to those Christians I just wrote about, because I know you don't often mean harm..it just often comes across that way.
So please don't judge all Christians from a certain few, just as I don't judge atheists on just a certain few.

yeah. I am a christian. I'm not going to push my beliefs on you. Some christians will. If you want to not believe in God. That's ok. That doesn't mean He doesn't believe in you. I used to be athiest. Actually satanic. I understand what you mean how SOME christians can make nasty comments. But not all of them do. That's a stereo type. I don't hate or dislike atheists. I understand completly, btw. you spelled christian wrong but you prob. don't care. God bless and have a wonderful life =)

It is sad. I don't understand why people can't just accept other's beliefs. I am Christian but I respect those who have other beliefs or no beliefs at all. People need to learn to be a lot less ignorant and more open minded.

He wasn't lying when he says, "im not a very intellegent person..."

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm not even an atheist and I get rude emails from people. I had one go on about false religions, as if I care, since I belong to no religion.

That's not too rude compared to others. It's very irrational and uses many logical fallacies, but what can you expect from a Christian?
Imagine believing in a God that will threaten you into believing. "Either you believe, or you go to hell." How calm and rational could you be under those circumstances?

I have gotten a couple rude emails. At least they did not contain any physical threats. Of course I have gotten the usual non-physical threats that Christians always engage in: (the my god will torture you in hell type).

I get my fair share.

Depending on the emails (which are as poorly written as the one you received) I will sometimes engage in a debate.

Usually, it ends up with them continuing to miss the point and continue to quote from that book of myths they like.
