Several years ago, I picked out my engagement ring. I loved the setting. But when I broke up with the guy, I gave the ring back. (Because I felt it was the right thing to do, even though he told me to keep it). But I find myself thinking about the ring from time to time. The store no longer carries it, or the records, since it's been 10 years, or so. Depending on the price, I'd like to buy my own version... even if it's with a Ruby instead of a diamond.... or something like that.

It was a gold band, wth a sort of zigzag design. It was not big or gawdy. It had a center stone and then two or three smaller stones on each side where the zigzag was. It was very feminine and dainty, and I got tons of compliments on it. I never got any such compliments on any other ring. It also had a matching wedding band that would fit with the engagement ring.

I've searched the internet, and came up with nothing. Does anyone know of any really good resources to find this ring?

It was a little more like:

^^^O^^^

With a few more zig zags on each side and a round stone in the middle.

Do you have any pictures of it? It really isn't that expensive to get a ring custom made for you. And yes if you really love that ring--why not consider checking out how much it would be for a goldsmith to make it?

I'd consider getting it with a ruby or whatever stone you love in it to lower the price. But if you still love it, why not get it?

I've ordered several rings custom made for me and have always been impressed with how reasonable the price is. Especially if you usually buy things at a jewelers--you are already paying a higher markup than you would at a goldsmith.

You are a big girl, independent, confident. You don't need a man to buy this ring for you. If it turns out years later, you are with a guy and you still love it--you can always get your engagement ring made to look just like that one, and sell them the one your bought yourself with the ruby. That way you'll get whatever the current price of gold is and not have 2 identical rings--but you also have the beautiful ruby ring for the years until some guy snatches you up.

This is a fairly popular style right now. Go to jewelry stores you have access to; I think you probably don't want to pay over $6,000 and you can find similar rings if you just look. Hope you enjoy shopping! Suggest you study the 3 C's of diamond shopping.

It's very cliche' but try looking on eBay. I find all kinds of stuff that I haven't seen since I was a kid and thought no longer existed.

Any good goldsmith could make that up for you. Chances are there is an existing mold for it. Good luck to you!
