alright, in reference to the previously posted question by
"." lol i'd like the make this addition.
as for the brainwash statement, im not saying whether i believe it or not... but i do very much understand where the author is coming from.
i have something to add to this also, think about if way back when the bible and other such religious materials were written. do you think if they had the technology and sciences we have today religion would even exist?

i mean if someone in todays world felt that they were "Jesus" or a messenger from God, we'd all think he's crazy.
nobody knows the truth for sure, and i guess nobody ever will.

hey hey hey, i took this statement from another user's question. and i was raised christian myself. i'm am just throwing this out there to see what others have to say/add
and also, i do not feel all followers are brainwashed. but i do however think that if you believe in God just because your parents said so, then yes you are.
you need to really study different religions and believe what you really believe - nobody can tell you what or what not to belive.

okay, yet another addition...
how do we know that the miracles such as ressurection that the Bible portray, actually happend? because people back then said so? let me ask you who wrote the Bible? humans did. humans who did not understand such things as science.
I am not trying to deny that there is any kind of God. but if there truly was a higher power, where is it? i like to think of humans as the highest power, no other species in this world has accomplish what humas have. and if there is a God, why are there so many other religions? if Christianity is meant to be the only religion, tell me why the Jews are the Chosen people, and why Jesus himself was Jewish.
I'm sorry if i sound agaisnt religions but i am not, i think everything that the Bible teaches and stands for is beautiful, truthful and fact im not so sure.
i think that religion is whats wrong with the world today, without it there would be no Jihad (holy war) and no extreme radicals out to harm everyone.

if we were meant to believe in a religion, there should only be one.

also tell me why there is extreme poverty in Africa, surely God cannot be so cold as to let this happen. where are all the miracles today? why hasent a shepard parted any seas lately, how come nobody has been resurected in recent years?
if from when you were born everyone was always telling you that computers controlled the world, and there was a robot in your head etc... you'd believe it just like everyone around you.
all i'm saying is we should all live in this world, not out to harm anyone, we are all humans in this land and we should be working together at all times with no fighting to tear us apart, think of how strong we could become if everyone worked as a team. religion just pulls people apart, separated. why? because we believe in different things? thats just stupid. we should live without such barriers in between us. peace is power.

Yes god is a delusion.
And yes, religion is dying as technology and science progress.
300 years ago, lightning were considered to be works of invisible god in the sky, but now we know they are natural phenomena, nothing extra-ordinary in that.

I think the ones MAKING the statement are brainwashed and fluff dryed. They presume they are so much more intelligent than people who believe the Bible. No possibility that it could be the other way around.
I have known PhDs. who can't balance their checkbooks. I can put together a computer system in my sleep but many respected business men would not know what to do. So just having a degree does not make someone above anyone else.
I would first say there are thousands of false religions out there, diliberately teaching things not in the Bible and against both reason and Bible principles. This serves to only confuse the issue. What does real Bible principles do for us?
I read recently there are 600,000 self-help book titles printed each year. Most say the same thing over and over. If the principles of the Bible were used, there would be no need for any of them. There would not be most of the STDs running epidemic today.
The question of why are we here is asked time and again. The Bible answers that and more. Why are we in the rotten situation we now find ourselves with war, famine, diasters? Why do we die? Science finds no reason for our cells to not continually renew themselves. Is there any hope for the better? Politics and Science and most religions can't have a reasonable answer. Their past history proves that.
As for the other question about if they had the knowledge of today back then, would religion exist? I would say ressurection from the dead qualifies. Lazuras was dead and buried four days. The people knew he was dead for sure. Yet, he got up to walk and talk in front of the same witnesses. The army officer who begged Jesus for his dead daughter certainly knew what death was. She came back. When Jesus healed the blind and lame, everyone knew them to be sick for years. Where could they go? Yet they walked and were able to see. The lawyers and clergy of that time did not dispute among themselves Jesus did this. Only the fact of doing it on the sabbath when they were to do no labor.

"..think about if way back when the bible and other such religious materials were written. do you think if they had the technology and sciences we have today religion would even exist?"
I think based on that statement alone, based on the lack of modern technology and the many ways of preserving documents we have today, that it proves how truly amazing it is that we still have the Bible today - that it survived the lack of technology! Seems then that there would have had to be some sort of divine intervention, divine preservation of truth so all could hear and believe. None would be without excuse. None can say they havent heard.
I think its also important to point out that all "religions" dont follow the same God. Many times it was the religious people of Jesus' day that persecuted Him. Everyone has the choice: to believe or not believe......that is the question!

I'm a Christian. I'm not brainwashed either!! I don't agree. Always human beings like me and you always find the truth, seeing is believing.. but then I can you that - I believe first then only see. This is called faith. Without faith, I can't do anything....It's history first then technologies and sciences. His-story, I believe is true. It's all about Him. Have you ever wonder who created you? How come you exist? God created us uniquely.
He gives us talents/gifts..to do something in the future, which u could see now, we have our modern world with all those new technologies and sciences. Brainwashed?? I don't think so..I have a deep relationship with Him, with God everything is possible! Being a Christian, my life is full of Hope, Faith and most importantly LOVE. God is powerful, Almighty..He has reasons why we gave us the Bible! the Bible is not words only but it is a living book. God bless!

Not brainwashed - I think man has part of his nature to WANT to believe in a higher power. the funny thing is how "new" todays major religions are. Egypt had their Sun god, greeks had Zeuse. Ah, But when no one was found on top of Mt Olympus, lets come up with a NEW god!!!! Of course, its what people grow up with so they accept it, without ever explaining the historical contradiction will all other and previous religions that have existed.

Stop doubting yourself. The truth is there for everyone to see if they would just throw off the blinders and see through the eyes of common sense. Generations have been brainwashed by religion. Fear was driven in to avoid questions being asked that would expose the truth. Why would they fear the truth so much unless they have all to lose and we have all to gain?

Being an absolute follower of Jesus, I don't consider myself being brainwashed, it is my choice, no one made me repent.
Now, on the other hand, brainwashing is when a person can control anothers mind on a religious aspect, ie: jim jones, david koresh, etc..
A person would have to have a very weak mind to be brainwashed.
My parents taught me about Jesus, that was not brainwashing. I got older and gave my life to Jesus but not because they made me...

The decision to believe and accept Christ and His teachings is not broin washing. But think about all that the blood of Jesus washes from our minds once we make that decision. He takes away the negativity, the unclean thoughts, and the bad attitude toward others He replaces them with pure thoughts, and a positive attitude.
It that is considered brain washing, I am glad to have God wash my brain any and every day.

I think that if you said that you would be a bigot. And yes, nobody knows for sure, so for all we know everyone could be brainwashed.
Either way, I disaprove of the term because it bears a negative connotation to it. Brain =good, wash= good, so how is it that brain wash is bad? I think people are stuck in the Nazi-fear and thus think that whenever they fail to think on their own, their bound to be a serial killer. But we always rely on other people's thoughts and versions of the truth, so in a sense we are all brain washed, or as I like to think of it, consciously aware of each other's thoughts.

Not all, a lot of followers of God have a good head about them. It is the few that do not that are brainwashed by their beliefs. The ones that say they are Christians, but don't actually follow any of the Christian beliefs.
