As soon as they get there 1st teeth they should be cleaned. Give him a tooth brush to brush his teeth and you have 1 as well. You could also try letting him brush your teeth whilst you do his, make it fun, sing silly songs with him. Just make sure you do it every day and he will soon get used to it and have nice clean teeth.

You should start massaging their gums (ie with a washcloth or infant toothbrush) from the time they are born- but most people don't. Definitely start brushing their teeth once the first tooth starts emerging - (brush after they eat).
My son is 4 months and really likes the little rubber infant toothbrush that I use on him (it's the kind you put on your finger- we got ours at walmart, but they are available in most stores)- They also make different kinds of toothpaste (which your son might enjoy if you haven't tried already- ours is banana flavor).
If your son refuses the toothbrush, he may be better back with a softer washcloth. Depending on how old he is you could also just try to have him drink a little water after he eats- it's not as good as brushing, but it will help keep his teeth a little cleaner. IT may also help if he sees you brushing your teeth- as most babies like to imitate their parents...
Good luck to you. The battle will likely begin again when he's older (I don't think my little brother brushed his teeth hardly ever when he was in junior high- gross!!!), but the better good oral hygeine habits you can develop now, the better!!!!

I waited until my first child had her first tooth. She hated having her teeth brushed. I began rubbing my sons gums within days of his birth. He has not been a big complainer when it comes to brushing his teeth. He is now three.
I would keep brushing his teeth. They do make small brushes that slip on the tip of your finger. He might respond better to it. I am afraid that if you stop he will complain even more each time you try to begin again.

ultimate to start quickly as teeth look. you're able to do it with a wash textile, a finger brush, and such like that. Toothpaste isn't stated till they're older.. uncertain how previous precisely, yet in common terms an extremely small quantity as youthful babies prefer to swallow it. even however he will lose those teeth ultimately it incredibly is mandatory to start oral hygiene early to start good conduct and decay from infant teeth may result person teeth. With my young babies i began out working a wash textile alongside their gums while they start to teethe to get used to it and a funky washcloth is the final teether to sooth the discomfort. so as that they have been used to their mouth messed with so transitioning to a toothbrush replaced into much less complicated.

I started brushing my baby's teeth when she had like 2-3 teeth. And that's barely brushing..just with warm water and a soft toothbrush. And I did'n't even do it every day, but Dr. said you should. My daughter didn't even mind it really. When they are 2yrs. old is when they start with toothpaste. But your Dr. will tell you when and what kind of toothpaste to use. Good Luck!

As soon as they get teeth they need to be cleaned. Even if its just with the little finger brusher. My daughter got her first two teeth at 3 1/2 months, and now at almost two, she can brush them herself.

when a baby gets its first tooth you should clean it. try a wash cloth after meals if he doesn't like the brush but you need to keep at it. let him use the brush so he feels like a big boy. or have 2 different ones, one for him, one for you so he knows the difference. good luck i know its hard my son doesn't like when i have to brush his teeth either he'd rather do it all the time.

He hates it because his little gums are still sensitive...
you might be brushing easy, but try using a washcloth(one of the baby's).
Just wipe his teeth, that way it will be your finger wiping along his gums AND his tooth(teeth)and not a little abrasive finger brush that hurts or irritates his mouth.
But you are right... brush them when they come in.
As he gets more teeth... it won't be so bad.

You should begin brushing as soon as he gets teeth. They don't like it at this age because they don't like to be held or be still, but keep going. This way, when he's older he won't have a huge aversion to it.
