Well that was a great trait to breed wasn't it? That's truly helping with the poor perception society has of Pits.

I think you should ignore any post that refers to your dog as a pitt, they don't know what they're talking about!
I doubt the dog meant to kill the pup however it's happened now so you have to learn from it. You need to separate male pups at an early age, it's not only once they reach sexual maturity that agression will become an issue, don't imagine ur staffy going crazy and ripping the pup to pieces, it was more likely much simpler than that. Just watch him and if you see more signs of this behaviour then act on it.

Older dogs usually do not do well with younger dogs. Think about it this way....it is almost like a baby always bothering you and messing up your room....it can get on your nerves. Some older dogs take the roll as the parent and want to teach them, some older dogs never really get use to the puppy until it matures. You have to understand though that unless you neuter your new puppy then you might have a dominance issue when the puppy comes into adult age. It really just depends on the older dog whether or not they will get along in older age. You can always try to promote good behavior amongst them. When you see the puppy bothering the older dog and you know that the older dog is about to get aggravated then correct the puppy by picking it up. When you see the puppy playing on his own or with someone that does not mind his crazyness then give him a treat. Also, if the older dog growls at the puppy or tries to bite the puppy correct the older dog, make them both understand that they muct respect eachother. It is not hard to teach them to get along. I have a 11 year old wheaten terrier and a 2 yr old pit bull. when we first got the pit bull puppy the older dog hated him and always tried to bite him when the pit bull puppy would try to play. But we corrected them both every time and now they respect eachothers spaces, they do not fight, but they dont play either. This is manly because my Wheaten is so old, Your Lab mix is alot younger so it may work better with your dogs, they may become the best of friends and play all the time and then you will have another problem because they will make your house so messy! If you do get a american bulldog pup you can always take him to play with the pitbull pup so that he has all that crazyness out of him when he is at home with the older dog.

You're introducing another dog (male or female) into another dog's territory. That's what the problem was. He showed signs of anxiety and gave warning signs to back off. As a puppy he probably didn't even know what these meant, however from your post YOU did.
You should have immediately seperated the puppy and the male dog until ALL dogs have been neutered and properly trained.
Where to go from here? You have a few options - Put the dog down (which I would not choose), Neuter ALL your dogs and get them ALL PROPERLY trained.
What do I mean when i say properly I mean.. when you say come they are right there, when you say sit, there is not asking twice or bribing, when you say go lay down the are immediatly in down. With that many dogs you risk dog fights they all need to be extremly obediant.
Good Luck and my condolences

Dogs establish pack order. You have one male and 3 females. One is the alpha male and one the alpha female and you are the leader. Pack instincts are very strong and without warning, situations can change on a turn of a dime. Your male killed the male puppy because his place as alpha male was threatened. Unless you know exactly what you are doing in regards to packs and order I would suggest that you do not introduce another dog into this pack.

He'd do it because he's a male of a breed known to be dog aggressive, worse he's been used as a stud, and you bring in a male puppy and, even though he's given warning, you left them alone together. A 12 week old puppy doesn't have the sense to know he has to stay far away from this dog, but you should. Yes, by all means neuter him, and don't bring any more dogs into the house.

you brought a 12 wk old pup into the mix and left it alone with a pit ? nice and now you have a dead pup did you expect any less . I would not tollerate his behavior if you are dealing with an agressive dog it is best to put him down . what if this is a child next time ? Now he has gotten a taste for blood . Nope not a good thing to deal with . You must do something with him . Either re home him to ppl with no other dogs or have him put down . good luck .

I come from a family that breeds bulldogs and i have one. You probably didnt think that this would happen and it is very sad. All you can do it move on. It is sooooo sad that it happened dont get me wrong but things happen. The mother of my puppy accidently stepped on one of her babies and killed it. It was soooo sad. So my advice would be to learn from this and not let it happen again. I am so sorry this happened to you.

Actually, I have seen something similar before. I wouldn't beat yourself up over it. I'm sorry that it happened, but it has been my experience that, obviously, puppies can annoy the older dogs. And sometimes they will maul the puppy to put him in his place. Unfortunately, sometimes this mauling can be a little too rough. I doubt that your dog meant to kill the puppy, he probably just meant it as a warning.

that is a sad story, castration should help depending on his age. dogs do tend to find it harder to except another male. i would get him done asap. and dont get another pup in case it happens again. he has 3 females so saw the pup as a fret.
