1) Read the Bible honestly. Try to read what it actually says, instead of what the religious leaders want you to get out of it.
2) Try not to fall for vain attempts at emotional manipulation. Appeals to fear, hope, guilt, pity, and the like really have no measure of the truth of the claim.
3) Look into the history of Christianity. See how most of the stories come from earlier myths.
4) Take the New Testament for what it was, a collection of stories written decades after Jesus died, if he existed at all.
5) Look at how other religions make arguments to support their beliefs and compare that to how Christianity supports theirs.
6) Look at how superstitions, myths, and urban legends are created and the arguments people give to "prove" their truth, then compare that to the claims made by Christianity.
7) Look into the nature of human belief. Note how people put together evidence out of wishful thinking, then validate what they want to believe to themselves.
8) Learn about science. Learn what the scientific method is and how it is used to discern what is likely or unlikely to be true.
9) Learn about logic and reason and compare that to the Christian idea of "faith"
10) Learn about what we've learned about the universe, so far. Don't limit yourself to Christian websites, but go find some real research done by real people.
11) Really ask people within Christianity and outside of Christainity the hard questions and compare their answers.
12) Read what the critics of Christainity have to say about the religion, including Dawkins, Harris, and Hitchens.
Those are the most important disciplines that Christians should follow. That will give any Christian a well-rounded, solid foundation. Though, if done well, they'll do much better than just a Christian living.

To get a solid foundation, do not make mortar out of sand. The utmost important thing to the Lord is to Love Thy Neighbor as thyself. Discipline comes with following Christ.

The persecution of Roger Dehart, a biology teacher in Washington state, under pressure from Eugenie Scott, the NCSE, and the ACLU, Deharts superintendant ordered him to stop bringing in supplementary material from prestigious, peer-reviewed journals about the problems with a few of the icons of evolution. I expect thumbs down on this one as the atheologions are uncomfortable with this fact.
