Not exactly. In a book club, people usually take turns speaking, whereas in a church, one person (a minister or priest) normally does all of the talking.

Not even close. First, there are a lot of Chrisitians who haven't read the book and would not be able to hold a decent discussion about it. Second, books read in book clubs are usually interesting and for the most part don't contain incest and murder. Third, when you read for a book club, you are allowed to have opinions and questions about what you read...that's not allowed with the Bible.

It is more a place for people with a common interest, to go and share their interests and beliefs with others of the same ilk.
A place to fellowship with other persons of like or similar interests.
