I'm about as manly as they come. I have hair in all the right places. Muscles and somewhat of a sixpack. I drink beer, ride my motorcycle, hang with the guys, get in fights, shoot deer, play golf, and I act like I know the lady at the bank and always look down at her boobs until she notices me doing it, then I wink. So, I'm so manly, until one of my biker buds and some others were drinking beer and he noticed I held my mug with my pinky fully extended. He, at that moment, questioned my manhood. I defer to you.

Hmm extending the pinky while drinking from a delicate tea cup is one thing. But extending it while drinking from a beer mug? That's a little strange. Forgo using the handle and just grip full fisted around body. Or you could claim that your whole had doesnt fit in the handle, followed by references to size of hands being relative to size of manhood etc.

Tell him it means you can't fit all your fingers inside the handle on the mug because of your big manly hands....
Or you can tell him that you do it when your drunk, you point your pinky up in the air to remind you which way to tilt the mug.

In England if you grasped your food and drink with all fingers you were considered a peasant.
The Lord's or those with "good breeding" would hold their pinky to stick it to the peasants showing they do not eat like peasants.
So it is a rude ellitist taunt that says "I'm more cultured than you dumb peasants."
However I like the idea that the glass handle just doesn't fit your large manly fingers. :)

I also use proper ettiquette at the dinner table. There's nothing wrong with being worldly and proper. It shows you are not only a man but one with class.
