Web 2.0 is a fine idea. The newer uses of technologies deliver a different web experience that is definitely better. The problem is amateur content. There's a reason why its hard to start a TV network -- because if everyone could do it, we'd have all the crap you see on youtube on prime time TV. Web 2.0 isn't the problem, it's the flood of untalented and boring contributors that is the problem. Yahoo Answers is good, Wikipedia is good, and more will come, but the quality is determined by the users and the effort they put into it, not the technology platform.

The concepts that make up the term "Web 2.0" are already here. In fact, the concepts are just a collection of older technology (AJAX, Semantics, Web Services, etc...) along with the idea of social networking/crowd sourcing.

Why not skip right over to Web 3.0 for the semantic wikis, ontologies, and AI.
