I am tired of finding bad sitters, it has interrupted my education and working potentential. Is there a website to rate them so others do not have bad experiences. Would it be illegal to start one? My local CCRS provides a list of child care providers but does not recommend one over another. I am not an over protective parent, but my daughter has been through a rape exam, my son hospitalized, and my youngest was given nyquil w/o my knowledge to keep him quite. My kids now tells me the sitter curses them out and I have overheard her being verbally abusive to my kids, her own and others in custody. I am sick of this sort of thing, but as a single parent what can I do. I am usually a good judge of character but it is impossible to know what people do in their homes and how they treat your children.

I wouldn't trust anybody to watch my kids that I didn't know. You can't trust anybody nowadays. I wouldn't even trust a daycare. I would only use referrals, friend, or a family member. Good luck

I can relate with your frustration. It's our day and age unfortunately. I quit my job of 8 years to stay home and raise my kids. We have made a huge financial adjustment, but it's the sacrafice I was willing to take. I can go back to work when my kids start school, but right now I need to be with them! The best you can do is trust your judgement, do background checks, and videotape your caregiver in your home. Best of luck to you! :)
