I'm 20 years old and have never really had any history of heart problems.

But today and the day before, in the mornings, I've been having quite severe chest pains localised at the heart-region.

It's like a dull ache. No pain spread anywhere else (i.e. arms or jaw), but I do feel faint and a bit dizzy. I'm not sure if this is psychosomatic though.

The pain makes me have to lie down and recuperate. I'm not sure what could be causing it. The pain isn't acute or severe enough for me to seek immediate medical attention. I mean I could still read at the same time, or have a conversation ; I'd just have to lie down and not focus on the pain.

Any ideas on what this is?

I would get check by a cardiologist immediately. Heart pain is usually described as a dull ache, and difficult to localized it. Whereas muscloskeletal pain is very specific, and the patient can point to the exact points of discomfort. Just because you are only 20 years old, does not make you immune to heart problems. Get checked.

Any time you have chest pain, you need to find out the cause. So I feel you should see a doctor. Noting your age, I may add... a cousin of mine in his early 20's was having chest pain. His doctor told him he was drinking to much soda. (as in coca cola). He had to stop drink soda for about 6 weeks, then limit how much he drank on a daily bases after that. He was taking in to much of the stuff that makes the pop fizz.. I don't remember how many cans of soda he was drinking at that time, but I do remember it was a lot! Do you drink a lot of soda in a day?

Chest pain is always cosidered seriously by medical professionals, get yourself checked out immediately. You would be considered a priortiy in a hospital. Either call a GP out to you, or get someone to take you down to A&E. To put your mind at ease if nothing else. Please don't ignore this and pretend it will go away!!

This could just be gas. I have it quite often. It comes and goes and not just in the mornings.
But to be on the safe side I would go and seek medical advice from a doctor.
I hope you get better soon.

It best to be checked out by someone who can give you a definitive answer ie doctor. If there is no pain down your left arm I don't think it's your heart but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Are you having high levels of anxiety? This sounds like the symptoms preluding a panic attack. If it persists I would still get it checked for peice of mind.
