I hope he retires already. He has nothing left to prove anyway.

Yeah, he has been beaten in the head FAR too much. The American Medical Association reports brain deterioration in three out of four boxers who have twenty or more professional fights. He is terrible for boxing, he makes the sport look bad. If something terrible happens to him in the ring, you think boxing had a "black eye" before, you just wait. If he wins a title by some far off minor chance, he'll make the sport look bad also. He says he wants to do what Foreman did and become the oldest to win a title. Well, Foreman was alot bigger, had the right opponent (Moorer), took less of a beating in his career, and took about 10 years off from 1977-1987. Let's face it, Holyfield is not getting any younger, and surely not any smarter if he keeps fighting. Somebody NEEDS to stop him, the blood is on anybody's hands who allows it, watches it, and fights him. Btw, his next fight is against Lou Savarese on June 30. I can't wait to not watch that.

Unfortunately, Evander has been in the ring too long and appears to have taken too many punches. The New York Boxing Commission refused to license him about two years ago because the members did not think he was fit enough to fight.

This has nothing to do with his ear being bitten off by Mike Tyson. Mike bit off part of the ear lobe, which had to effect on Evander's hearing.

I really don't know why Evander continues to fight. Many fighters keep going because they need the money, but, if my understanding is correct, Evander still has a large wallet.

I hope "The Warrior" packs it in and retires to a life of comfort.

Mainly because he's been in the ring too long, and taken too many punches to the head, which has caused him to develop "Punch Drunk Syndrome", where the voice thickens, and the speech sounds slurred. Arturo Gatti and James Toney also have this condition. When a boxer is slurring their speech, it is a clear warning sign to other people that the boxer should retire from the sport, to save himself further damage. Unfortunately, because of the ego's of most boxers (most don't know - or can't accept - when they're finished and should get out), they end up staying in the ring for too long, and end up risking further damage to their legacies, and more importantly, their own health.

He has brain damage from taking too many blows to his head, most of the damage was done during his fights with Riddick Bowe. He's an old punch drunk boxer. Have you heard Arturo Gatti speak lately? He's slowly becoming the same way.
